Advantages: Non stick, indicates when pan is hot enough

Disadvantages: £15.99 is a lot for a frying pan

I recently bought a Tefal Optimal frying pan as my local Tesco had it on offer for £7.49 instead of £15.99 for the largest size. I have since bought the 2 smaller ones for £9.99 at Woolworths, and consider this to be a reasonable price for pans of this quality. I am now a convert to the school of Tefal, and in turn I now cook with less fat, and I find that my food with much tastier.

The principle is simple but very effective. There is a red spot about the diameter of an old 10p in the middle of the pan with the Tefal logo on it. You put the pan on the hob with no food in it, and when it heats up enough to place the food in, the logo disappears, indicating that the pan had reached it's optimal temperature, therefore that is why the pans are from the Optimal range.

I have cooked chicken, mince and done a stir fry in this pan, and none of it has burnt or stuck to the pan, even when using little or no oil. In fact it is more tasty as it does not have oil dripping from it, and the real taste is not overpowered by the fat.

The pan is easy to clean and it is dishwasher safe.

I paid a bargain price but to be honest now that I have tried it I would have paid the full price for it.
