I got the Thomson DTI-1000 for Christmas as I wanted to know what all the fuss was about concerning Digital TV. There has been a big push to get everyone switched to digital before the Governments plan to turn off analogue signal between 2006 and 2010. Always one give new technologies a go, I decided to get one of these receivers. The box is suprisingly small and is about the size of a large book. The case feels sturdy enough if a little plastic. The DTI-1000 has good scope for connections. You get a passthrough RF socket so you can feed the analogue signal into your video and tape terrestrial channels. Thomson launched their set top box mid December and I am amazed by the improvement in my TV picture. I have never been a huge TV fan but I do enjoy documentaries, news, fact based dramas and the occasional award winning film. I could now very easily become a TV addict as the picture quality on our Panasonic 100Hz 28 inch TV is now quite staggering. Whilst the picture before installing the box was excellent on this model of TV, the digital signal and this box takes off any graininess and lack of focus.
