      Thumbs down

"Advance Guardian Heroes" is a video game released for the Gameboy Advance in 2005 by Ubisoft. It is a remastered version of a video game released to the Sega Saturn console. In the United States, the game received a rating of "E" by the ESRB panel which deemed it suitable for all ages.

It seems that this title was rushed during its final stages of testing. The game is an adventure/fighting title which allows the player to choose one of the various characters to complete a mission on behalf of two Heavenly wizards. The player must guide his chosen character through various scenarios while eliminating all enemies in his or her path. It is in these periods of fighting where gameplay becomes horrendous. The high technical requirements of numerous characters in one area brings the game to a near halt and makes the game atrociously "laggy" or very choppy in appearance. This "lag" quickly recovers should the player find a way to eliminate all enemies in the area but will soon be brought back into a grind a few moments after his character steps a few paces. I was not able to successfully complete this game due to this apparent hardware glitch.

The graphics are acceptable and come across as very comic book like in drawing. The detailing is of an excellent standard and features great environmental traits such as rain and clouds. Many of the features are also implemented in a pseudo 3D environment which could also have contributed to the aforementioned "lag". Nonetheless, their detailing is excellent and makes for a pleasing visual experience. The sound track is also of an acceptable quality and features several different musical scores and effects to suit different environments.

Overall, I would not recommend Guardian Heroes to prospective buyers. The great visual experience is otherwise hindered by almost unplayable gameplay.
