"Alex Rider: StormBreaker" is a video game released for the Gameboy Advance console in 2006 by THQ. It is an action title involving central themes including murder, revenge and justice. In the United States, the game received a rating of "E" by the ESRB panel which deemed it suitable for all ages
The storyline of this story revolves around a young English boy, Alex, being raised by an uncle who works as a spy for MI6. The uncle is caught up in a mission and subsequently murdered by hostile forces, and MI6 recruits Alex to bring the felons to justice. In a typical plot which pits a young boy on a mission to save the world, the player guides Alex on an adventure to deal with evil henchmen using typical spy gear and tactical equipment. The gameplay itself is generally easy to complete and does not require much effort on behalf of the player. There are numerous settings for the player to engage with, including swimming, being on a mine shaft and simple running/exploring modes, and this does prove entertaining for some time.
What does prove difficult in this title is its graphical implementation. The colour palette used is very bright and does not differentiate clearly between the environment and the character. Alex is featured with blonde hair colour and due to the many outdoor environments blends in excessively with the various features. This is also true of the enemies which are often "camouflaged" due to their brightness and can suddenly appear what is seemingly out of nothingness. I did not find the soundtrack to be particularly noteworthy in this title. There are few effects and compositions which are very low in volume in their default setting. What I did hear, though, was of an acceptable quality.
Overall, StormBreaker is an average title at best which I would be hesitant about recommending to prospective buyers. Its graphical faults are a definite hindrance which impacts on gameplay and makes for a somewhat frustrating experience.
This game Alex Rider Stormbreaker in your Game Boy advance will seem to just like any ordinary game. This game might have some hype over it but it is really not that great or anything. Unlike the book which was a major best seller the movie was good, but the games not that interesting. The games layout is only to do simple tasks such as walk around, flip buttons, jump here and jump there, only around this, somehow have they put up the story. This game can be played by children, who might be the only ones who would actually adore it, as it has their hero 'Alex Rider' in it. This game, in my opinion will seem to be pretty lenghty as its just the same boring stuffs which you should repeat but just in a different location. Honestly it is not a product worth buying or downloading, but if you've read the book or watched the movie maybe you can give it a try. I havent played the game on the Game Boy Advance, but I have a computer version of it called Visual Boy Advance, hence I just download all the games of GBA and play them on the computer. I had read the book first, loved it, watched the movie, loved it, hence I downloaded the game as well, didnt love it that much.
The game isnt exactly that tough to play, but you'll get used to it. In terms of graphics, its not that great, its not even equal to the clarity of Harry Potter games. The sound is only enjoyable as you play the game, but the game is almost endless, especially to those who dont even know who Alex Rider is. As in terms of difficulty, its fairly easy to master, just that you're supposed to do the same things over and over again.
So I just want to end by saying that this product should not be bought by anyone who hasnt watched the movie or read the book as it would be really boring for you and will not be worth your hard earned money. Only if you're a die hard fan of Alex Rider can you think about purchasing it for the names sake. And I also want to add that I wouldnt recommend anyone for buying this product, this is my opinion, hope you take my adice in this case and save your money for other better games!!! ;)
Hope you enjoyed, liked and found my review helpful. Thank You!!
