Advantages: FREE!, In--depth, Interactive
Disadvantages: Losing!
Lets be honest, there are quite a few football management games out there, from newspapers to consoles, everyone's in on the act!
Check out http://purefootball.freeloader.com and have a gander at their online management game and you may never bother with any of the above again!
Purefootball's selling points?
Well, it's free... which is always a bonus. It's up-to-date. It's realistic. It's in-depth. There's interaction with other managers.. where do I start?
You take charge of any English Premiership team of your choice and there are hundreds of 'sessions' to choose from, so you have every chance of getting your favourite side.
You then take over everything... training, physios, picking a captain, who takes the free-kicks and penalties, the team line-up and formation, players sallary and contracts... transfers etc. etc.
All these decisions are based on the player skills (as with most of these games) there is an element of reality, ie Michael Owen really IS good... but there's also a random element to make it more interesting. For example, currently in charge of West Ham Scott Minto is a cracking defender!
All these elements keep it interesting and as if that wasn't enough, there are 19 other managers trying to "do you in" approach your players, pinch your top striker after he rejects his new contract and you can get in touch with them and line-up swap deals or bash out a fee for the player you're after.
Matches take place on a DAILY basis too (or less frequently if you prefer) so the scenario is constantly changing as players come in and out of contract, get injured, suspended, lose form etc. etc.
It's great fun... if you're a footie fan and you enjoy management games, I really recommend you give this a look.
