      Very helpful

Could this game BE any sweeter? The answer would be a big, fat, NO! All Terrain Racing (or ATR) for the Amiga is one of the greatest racing games of all time and for pure fun value and gameplay, it beats the living hell out of the majority of PSX, PS2, Dreamcast and N64 driving games (with a few obvious exceptions). The game itself is very much like Mario Kart with an isometric view. Weapons, boosts and detrimental pickups are available as you travel around the beautifully drawn tracks. Control is very similar to Micro Machines on the PSX, with left and right spinning your car around on it's axis and a button each to accelerate and brake. The game is perfectly balanced, difficulty wise and the way everything comes together so sweetly is an example of Team 17 at their very best. I believe a PC version was available, but don't quote me on that! Amiga CD32 and A1200 optimized versions were definitely released, but I couldn't comment on the optimizations as I've not had first hand experience of either. Multiplayer is also very much like Micro Machines, with the same points system in place. Keep up with the leader or as soon as you're a screen length behind, you lose a point. First player to get all ten points wins the match/race. Great fun! I seriously can't find fault with this title. Great fun, great graphics, a nice long play life with plenty of upgrades to be won, a whole ton of courses and excellent multiplayer options make it one of the Amiga's best titles.
