Another World played like a movie in which you were the main star. It put you as a man found on a distant and hostile planet who must try to escape by stealing one of the hostile aliens crafts...or something like that...the momory is a bit fuzzy after all these years. You play in a very linear format, being able to progress from one screen to the next but once there the task to be achieved is obvious and must be completed before you can progress. This is ok but makes this game more like an interactive story rather than a 'game' as such. For example, you are captured by aliens and suspended high in the air inside a metal cage...the ONLY thing you can do is to rock that cage and make it fall on top of the guard. This sort of thing continues throughout so that the game ceases to hold too much interest and becomes very easy to complete. You do meet another alien along the way who helps you and find a weapon as well to blast the bad guys, but everything feels far too planned out to make it any fun. It is simply too restrictive to be enjoyable and as a result can only get a low rating despite being acclaimed at the time for its graphics...which incidentally are very dated now. Sound effects are also virtually non-existant as well as gameplay which make this overall unimpressive although fun for a short while.
