"ATV Quad Power Racing" is a video game released for the Gameboy Advance in 2002 by Acclaim. It is a racing game and is based on a series of releases of the same name for other popular gaming consoles. In the United States, the game received a rating of "E" by the ESRB panel which deemed it suitable for all ages.
Gameplay of this title is very simple. It is a basic racing game offering players the chance to complete on four wheeled all terrain vehicles, each claiming to handle differently but in practice showing no obvious differentiation besides colour. The player is to compete in a tournament style series of races which are each set in different environments ranging from desert sands to arctic snows. Again, despite these different characteristics, these exert no obvious hindrance or improvement to the player's vehicle. Another point I noticed in this game is the computer opponent's spacing. During the initial start of the race, it appears that each computer opponent almost form a line and allow for considerable space in between them. Because of this the player will not likely encounter more than one racer on the track at a given time.
Looking past the rather commonplace gameplay, the visuals of this title are excellent. Each have be rendered in full three dimensional graphics which could perhaps have impacted on the available room to implement excellent gameplay. Nonetheless, the game is very much eye candy appealing with great environmental features that are very pleasant to look at. The audio track is not as good and only features the typical grumble of engine noise and an occasional blip from the character should he fall from his vehicle.
Overall, Quad Power Racing is not the best racing title but is an awesome showcase of stunning graphics for the Gameboy Advance console. It is not something I would recommend for its gameplay but perhaps as an insight into what the console is capable of graphics wise.
