THQ Bring us Championship Motocross, I first seen this game on the back of a WWF PSX game, also made by THQ. I always thought he game looked pretty good, it's biggest selling point was that it was the only game featuring Ricky Carmichael, to this day i've still no idea who he is but I picked it up cheap as I do with most of my PSX games and gave it a whirl
The stand out part of this game is the vast array of features, it has tons of tracks and more bikes to pick from that possibly any PSX Motorcross game i've found.
Graphically it's quite appealing, although a llittle blocky at times it still looks quite good and the framerate seems to be able to handle the speed of the game ok.
As for the Gameplay , well it's quite what you'd expect. X to go, Sqaure to brake and everything else is directions. It's cool to sway from side to side though.
The audio in the game is ok, just generic Guitar driven rock stuff in the background of all the vrooming!
Overall if you're a fan of Motocross and know who the drivers are etc this is a pretty damn good game.
Championship Motocross Featuring Ricky Carmichael is a 3D motocross game that gives you a realistic interpretation of the sport. Championship Motocross features five different modes of play: championship, quick race, two player, time attack, and practice. Championship mode lets you progress through each race in the hopes of being crowned the dirt-bike-racing champion of the world. The game features three teams for you to select from. Each team can choose from a 125cc, 250cc, or a 500cc bike. Each bike is rated in engine power, power band, top speed, weight, jumping, cornering, rough terrain, and suspension. Picking the right bike for each track is essential. In each race, you are up against seven other riders who, of course, all want to be in first place as well. You compete on a total of 12 different tracks. Five of them are motocross tracks, four are supercross, and three are enduro-based courses.
