I bought this game because I thought Close Combat 1 was excellent and could not wait for the sequeal to be released. Close Combat 2 came out about 2 years ago and is set in Holland during World War Two, during the Allied operation Market Garden. When you first start, you can choose to be British, German or American forces, and on some levels you play as Polish airborne forces. The game has many battles and how many you decide to play in one go is up to you. Each battle has a mission e.g to secure a bridge, and before you start, you must decide where to position your forces. This game has amazing graphics and sound effects, especially when you blow things up! The soldiers you command are designed to have 'artificial intelligene', e.g if you order a group of soldiers to attack an enemy tank, they won't unless they have the right weapons, and will also give you a piece of their mind, such as, "Your mad!". At times, the game can get bloody and gruesome with screaming, dying men, but this adds to the harsh reality of warfare. You have the opportunity to command both troops and armoured vehicles and there is even flamethrower units which can be very fun to use indeed! After each battle, your troops are assessed for physical health, mental health, moral and bravery and using this information, you can plan you next attack. Some soldiers are also awarded medals. This game is a superb combination of strategy and gameplay and there is also actual war footage. I would recommend this game to any strategy game lover, hours of fun, a definate thumbs up!!
