Advantages: Cheap, Cheap, Cheap
Disadvantages: Bad range of decent games, Not DVD compatible, No online features
It's cheap and it looks good...so does a can of beer but that doesn't make it an excellent games console!
Really the Nintendo Gamecube is the parents choice because of its price, and it's also the kids choice of because its colourful, 'imaginitive' games.
But for any true gamer this stuff shouldn't appeal to you.
First of all the only games that don't match the description of a 'parents choice' or a 'kids choice' are:
. Star Wars Rogue Leader (not as good as predicted)
. Resident Evil: Biohazard (not out yet)
. Turok Evolution (not out yet)
. Metroid (not out yet)
Also there's the fact that the gamecube doesn't play DVDs whilst more and more games now come on DVD ROM discs, increasing video quality, memory etc.
I understand that not much of the above is really enough to convince people not buy a Gamecube but maybe this will:
As you know, internet gaming is becoming more and more popular, so much so that pc games these days that are not online are considered strange. It won't be long before console games will be fully online too.
So to prepare for this Microsoft made the Xbox broadband ready and Sony are releasing a broadband adapter as well as a standard 56k modem for it.
So what have Nintendo done for the Gamecube?
Answer: Nothing!
Nintendo said that they don't see online gaming as an important feature of games - Are they mad?
