This was the start of a golden era for gaming

MY FAVOURITE MASTER SYSTEM GAMES OF ALL TIME

The Master System was the console before the Mega Drive and came with a game called Alex the Kidd and this is one of my favourite games of all time. The first instalment was called Alex the Kidd in Miracle World. You had to face monsters throughout each level and had to pass three creatures that played rock, paper & scissors. The game ran using a cartridge which slotted directly into the master system. (This is my number one game for MS)

Next on my list would have to be Shinobi. This was another great hack and slash but using a samurai sword which made it even more fun. There were five missions to complete and each had a few stages. (This is my number two game for MS)

And thirdly it has to be the blue furry hedgehog called Sonic. The game involves Sonic going through each level until he reaches his arch enemy Dr Robotnik. Throughout each level you must collect gold rings, and sometimes you may even find Chaos Emeralds. The game was designed with softer colour which meant less eye strain although I don't think it worked for my eyes. (This is my number 3 game for the MS).

Overall the master system was a great console with lots of classic games and funny looking gamepads with their rectangular look and little black buttons. The number of units sold was 13.4 million was first released in 1986 and made SEGA competitive with the likes of Nintendo.
