A farming game? Are you serious? Yes I am. And before you turn your nose up this is genuinely something special, it really is fun to play this.
I played this game a lot when I was younger. You play as yourself (a male version if you're a girl) and you inherit a farm in Mineral town. And that's the plot. You can do what you want with the farm, you can do whatever you want. You can grow crops, get animals; whatever you want to do. This is what the makes the game so special as you get to do what you want to do. You can even get married.
The controls are simple to use, therefore it makes for a good game for children under ten. If you're any older however this game is absolutely fine to play with as well as everyone needs a little bit of chillout time and this could be it for you.
The glitches however annoy me, they have stopped me from saving a couple of times. And sometimes the game has been deleted for no apparent reason which really does make me upset because you invest a lot into these games. So yeah, and also because the game is so simple you can easily get bored at times.
But all in all, it's such a cute and enjoyable game, you really can't complain.
Harvest Moon friends of mineral town is a role playing game based on an unusual premise - farming.
The player is first introduced to the game by a short cut scene explaining how you inherit a farm that has fallen into disrepair. You are told by the towns mayor to start farming and from then on, the world of harvest moon is yours to explore.
The main goal of the game is to earn money and improve your farm, and this can be done in all sorts of ways, from growing crops and rearing animals, to collecting things found in mountains and mining.
At the start of the game you are given a set of tools - an axe for clearing wood, a hoe, and a watering can for example. As you earn more money, you can improve your tools and access new areas and abilities, which allow you to improve the scale of your farming operation. This money can also be spent on improving your house and barn, as well as building outbuildings.
The farming is only part of the game however. The in game world also features a large town area with a multitude of characters to interact with. By giving them gifts and interacting more often, your relationship with them improves and lets you access new things, including a wife.
Graphically, this game is a stand out for the GBA in my opinion. They are clear and colourful, and it is easy to discern what things are. Animations are smooth, and environments are varied season to season. As for in game sound, the effects (cows mooing, your axe chopping wood etc) are good, but the initially whimsical background tune can soon become grating. In terms of longevity, harvest moon is essentially infinite, though I imagine after about 20 hours you may get a bit sick of it.
In summary I'd say that Harvest moon is an enjoyable, laid back game that can soon become addictive if you enjoy RPG games, and the desire to attain all there is to be found in the game.
Harvest moon: friends of mineral town is an open ended farming game in which you play as a young man who inherits a farm from an old man he met during his childhood.
The game starts out explaining how the farm comes into your hands and after a short, simple tutorial, guiding you around the farm, it's all yours to explore and make your own.
Money making in harvest moon is simple, players can grow crops on the designated area of land in the farm buy buying seeds from the local store at the village. Other than this, players can keep animals from which they can sell their milk, wool, and eggs. Around the village, players can pick fruit which can also be sold. As you progress further in the game, you will come across more ways of making money from the resources around the village.
The money earned can be put towards expanding your home, buying kitchen utensils for cooking products such as mayonnaise which can also be sold.
The game also features likable characters which players get to know as the game progresses. Throughout the game, events take place in which players get to socialise with the other characters in the game.
Overall, harvest moon is a excellent but often repetitive game which is well suited to those who enjoy playing strategy games. If you like animal crossing and this sims, harvest moon might be the game for you.
"Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town" is a video game released for the Gameboy Advance console in 2004 by Ubisoft. It is a roleplaying game based on the Harvest Moon series. In the United States, the game received a rating of "E" by the ESRB panel which deemed it suitable for all ages.
"Friends of Mineral Town" handles very similarly to earlier Harvest Moon titles. In it, the player assumes the role of a farmer who acquires a plot of land in its primitive stages. It is the player's goal to plant seeds and harvest crops for commercial income. This income is required as tools are necessary to facilitate the farm chores and are purchased as the need arises. The player will need a hammer and axe for removing debris from the farm land, a hoe to till the soil and a watering can which is used water the planted seeds. The game becomes more advanced when livestock is added to the farm and this, too, can provide a source of commercial income. The game is very simple to play with the "A" button getting numerous hits throughout, especially when watering the fields using the watering can. What can prove troublesome is the clock feature. Each day is timed by use of an analog clock and the player's character must work, play and rest within a single 24 hour period. All farm work must be accomplished by 9 PM as working after this time will cause the character to oversleep in the morning and miss opportune times to tend to the livestock and fields. One in game year takes approximately 10 hours which offers the player a lengthy play, and this play is not restricted as there is no limit on how many years can pass in game.
The graphics are presented from a top down perspective which focuses on the player's character. I find the detailing to be good as each of the images are large enough for ease in distinguishing between them; it is easy to identify the numerous crops. The characters are also large and feature simple facial accents. The audio is stellar in this title. For a more authentic farm experience, developers included real samples of animal noises, such as a cow's "moo", and these play frequently while tending to the farm land. There are also audio samples during periods of inclement weather, such as rain and thunder.
Overall, I would recommend Friends of Mineral Town to prospective buyers. It is a very interesting premise and remains an enjoyable play for extended periods due to there being no time limit.
Harvest Moon is a game centered around farming the land and tending to your livestock, and making friends in the nearby town along the way. From this limited point of view the game sounds like the worst game that has ever been released, but in fact it is one of the most addictive and fun experiences available on the Gameboy Advance and the Nintendo DS.
The game begins with your character inheriting a farm from your deceased friend who you had come to visit, not knowing the unfortunate news. It then becomes your job to get the farm back to a good standard by planting crops and raising your animals. Over the course of the game you can enter various town competitions, meet new people in town, play with your dog, and even find yourself a wife!. The gameplay of the game is very fun, and it gets more challenging as you go on, with various weather hazards that appear that you must prepare your farm for.
The graphics of the game are very good and suit the game well, and there are some cool animations for when you are using the tools and performing verious actions. The sound of the game is also well suited to the cartoon feel of the game, although the music can become annoying and repetitive.
Overall however this is a really fun game, it can be picked up cheaply on most online sites, and highly recommened that owners of a Gameboy Advance, SP, DS or DS Lite does so.

Somewhere, in your mind, I bet you have always wanted to get away from the busy life for a little while go to the countryside taking your time planting crops, raising animal...but if you don't have time to go too far, just find Harvest Moon: Friend of Mineral Town( FoMT) on GBA, you will have a feeling of purity or coming back to the childhood...
I met this game on my brother's N64 and liked it immediately. After that, I kept finding another version of it and had played three other version on Gameboy and Gameboy color in turn. The next one is Harvest Moon: Back to Nature on PS( although I don't have PS , I play by emulation on my PC) and now It's FoMT.This version really made me impressed. One of the Harvest Moon series, this game is from the Role-playing ,RPG simulation game type.
Start the game, you'll be a young guy, on the way back to the countryside from his childhood, with hundreds of beautiful images in his memory. He remembered the green field, the cattle, chikens, remembered riding a horse for the first time, lying on the hill with a girl, looking up to the sky....He must have missed them much....But, unfortunately, when he arrived, he had been told by the Mayor that the owner of the farm has died, no one wanna take care of the farm so It has been left fallow for some months. Therefore, he asked you-young guy to live on the farm and take care of it for a while. And,you accepted, of course.
Then, the mayor will explain to you some basic things about the game as well as the farm and Mineral Town. How the control work, saving ,loading game and making use of tools.Afterward, you'll meet Zack- the produce collector, he'll be in front of your door 5 pm everyday to collect your product. Now you come in the house, write diary(to save game) and sleep.Next morning, the first day on the farm, you may not know what to do, but the farm look all mess up so just clear it up a bit then. You'll need those tool inside the box in your house included: hammer, axe, scythe, hoe and watering-can.Hammer is used to break stone, axe is to chop the wood, scythe is to cut the grass and hoe is for hoeing the cleared land. Now, it's time to have some plants. With your small money-500G(gold, I think) you can buy some seeds bag. For different season, there are different seed. For example: Turnips, cucumber, strawberry are available in spring where as tomato and pinapple available in summer, egg plant, sweet potato and carrot in autumn and there is no seed to be sold in winter cause simply you cant plant anything in winter. Each kind of plant takes different time to grow and gives product and normally there are two kinds of plant, short term and long term. You have to water them everyday except rainy day. You also should beware of summers storm because it can blow anything up!
When you have enough money, you should think about raising some animal because planting seems to be risky sometimes. In terms of animals, you can raise cows, chickens and sheeps. You also have a dog and a horse but they are not for commercial intending, they are just pets and sometimes they can be trained to join in some competition. Cattle and chickens also have their own competition, when they win, their product will be upgraded and can be sold with higher price. Cows produce milk, sheep produce fleece and chickens produce eggs. Eggs and milk can be eaten right away or stored or sold. You can make mayonnaise from eggs and butter from milk as well. Fleece is used to make wool and so can be sold with really high price. When you have more and more money, try to upgrade your farm your house by collecting wood, money and give it to the carpenter in the forest. You will have your building extended in just shorter than 1 week. You have got a big house so now buy some furniture and house hold such as fridge, kitchen table, cupboard ... Now youre rich, your house is big, and your farm remains stable, its time to find out something interesting such as relationship in the town. There are some girls(bachelors) but you also have some rivals. Each girl has their own personalities and likeness. So if you want to date a girl, youd better find out more about her, her family, her likeness, and even their timetable^^. Some girls like flowers but some dont, they prefer alcohol, some are quite and some are very energetic, lively and all have different background: Karen lost her mom and now living with dad in their Inn, Elly lives with grandma Ellen and younger brother Stu and works in clinic with doctor, Popuri(I love this name, so cute) lost her dad , lives with her mom and her older brother on their farm, raising chicken youll choose a girl you like most, date her and then get married. There is nothing that you cant do. Going to church on Sunday, going shopping, going fishing, or spending time with your family on the beach or on the mountain. Its really peaceful, such a simple life
2D graphic with very cute characters as well as the pets, cattle, express different emotions on their face making the game closer to your childhood. Chicken fighting, dog catching Frisbee, or riding a horse in a competition which is really active or cold winter night with snowstorm makes a feeling of loneliness they are all described very well, very detail. In terms of sound and music, you can hear clearly the voice of your dog, your horse and every single creature, either in your farm, another farm or wild life. Mono but with lively rhythm help preventing the feeling of reptitive.
However, as the game go on, you will never reach the end. Therefore, whenever you feel bored, or heavy, FoMT wil lift you up, help you see the world around by an optimistic eye. The game wil last forever and seems like it's always there for you, whenever you want it.
I've stop playing this version but still looking for another one, It's getting better but trust me, never for get to try this game Harvest Moon: friend of Mineral Town. It's just such a wonderful product of Natsume on GBA.
Thank you for reading!
