Overall, a great fun action game

When I was alot younger in the days of my childhood I used to love this programme Inspector Gadget. It was fantastic so I had to get this game a couple of years back on the Playstation as a big fan.

The plot of the games surrounds Doctor Claw who is the villian of the piece and he has careated a bunch of Mind control crystals that control you mind. Inspector Gadget must destroy these crystals but also rescue his niece Penny and their dog Brain. The have both been kidnapped by Doctor Claw. The storyline like the cartoon is not great but it's the gameplay that's the main thing.

The graphics are nice enough through the gameplay itself and everything can be distinguised and is detailed. However the cut scenes are not very good unfortunately and could and should be much better. The sound effects are good and not too loud. The music is equally good as well.

Okay, so on to the gameplay. Each stage of the game is pretty much a maze but not like the typical maze you would think of. Instead every stage has differently coloured crystals and the aim is to destroy these said crystals. You can do this by putting 3 or more of the same colour together. However, this seems simple enough but the problem and hard part is actually finding the crystals.

In each stage Inspector Gadget will encounter MAD agents who are employed by Doctor Claw. When you bump into one of these agents they beat you up and you lose a life. Then you have to start over in the game. The normal agents are pretty stupid and just walk around in small areas until they bump into you. They are easy to avoid. But as you get further in the game Doctor Claw uses spies. They are very smart and will chase you relentlessly until they catch you. Not only do you have the crystals you need to collect and destroy, but there are also garbage cans and other means of barracading to use. You can also collect gadgets round the maze to use such as a mallet or a copter that lets you fly temporarlily. To makes things more challenging there is a time limit on each stage and if you don't collect and destroy all the crystals within that time limit or in one stage rescue Penny and Brain then you lose.

Everything described before is mission mode. There is also multi player mode you can tackle in this game. This allows you to play as other characters including Penny and Brain.

Even if you're not a fan of the cartoon you will still enjoy this game as it's great fun and pretty addictive but can be frustrating too as parts are quite hard to win at.
