"Simba's Mighty Adventure" is a side-scrolling platform game released to the Gameboy Color console. In it, players control "Simba" of the "Lion King" series and guide him through the jungle on various tasks.
Gameplay does feature some learning curve. I found the controls to be slightly unresponsive versus other games of this genre and this led to some frustration. There is a clear time lag in directional commands, such as turning from left to right, which could prove troublesome in points of enemy conflict or where quick wits is required. The objectives of this game keep with standard platform games and that is to guide Simba from the beginning of the play stage to the end, all while collecting objects and engaging enemies. Controls are the genre standard arrows guiding movement, "A" jumping and "B" making use of Simba's attack which is a cat scratch. "Boss" stages come across as simple and do not require much skill to complete overall.
Graphics are vivid and colourful. I didn't particularly spot any areas of flaw though did feel that producers could have given attentional attention to Simba as his physical characteristics are less than obvious. The background and environmental features used here were good nonetheless.
Audio, however, shows poor implementation and repetitiveness through the musical compositions and lack of sound effects; the only obvious effect is the treble ridden "ouch!" which Simba cries upon being struck by an enemy.
"Simba's Mighty Adventure" is perhaps one of those titles that a play will either love or hate. There is some challenge offered to the player in this title, but likely could be completed with relative ease.
