Suitable for fans of pinball titles

"Little Mermaid 2 Pinball Frenzy" is a pinball title based on the animated motion picture of the same name. There does not appear to be any set storyline behind this specific title; it is just a matter of playing pinball in attempts to build up a high score.

Gameplay is that of any other generic "pinball" title. The player has the option of two "tables" to choose from with one featuring more feminine Ariel or the other masculine Prince Eric accents. Players control the pinball machine but pressing the "B" button to launch the play into play, left arrow controlling the left flipper and the "A" button controlling the right flipper. The player also has the option to "tilt" the machine by pressing the right arrow. There is some learning curve to these controls but is mastered in a short period of time.

The graphics seem to suggest that the game has been over simplified. There is a mammoth silver ball which is clearly larger than the smaller paddles of the pinball machine, allowing greater ease in targeting and keeping the ball in play. This could perhaps lead the player to believe that this title was targeted towards children as per the fanbase of the motion picture. Nonetheless, colouring and detailing made great use of the Gameboy Color console. There did not appear to be anything flawed in the graphics department.

It could perhaps be said that audio is somewhat lacking as there is few sound effects in the game to accent the pinball table. There is one musical composition per table that follows prominently throughout the game which outweighs any effect that sporadically appear throughout gameplay.

"Pinball Frenzy" would make a suitable addition to a pinball fan's collection. It is, however, overly simple in play and those seeking a challenge would not be advised to look towards this game.
