Advantages: More information, Longer & more detailed
Disadvantages: Not official, Different authors so they differ in quality
FAQs are a lot like manuals, but they contain a lot much information, and the information contained in them is much more useful. An FAQ normally contains everything in a manual, a walkthru, any cheats for the game plus a lot of other useful information.
The best place to get an FAQ for ANY game is www.gamefaqs.com. They have FAQs for every platform available. It is easy to navigate, and easy to find an FAQ for the game you are looking for, just use the search box on the left.
The site itself has a good news page that is often updated and has all the latest gaming news. There is a forum with many members where you can talk about your favourites game, and ask for advice.
Visitors to the site submit all the FAQs. They are all in .txt format but the layout for each one will be different (since they are written by different people). There are normally multiple FAQs available for every game, depending on the popularity of the game. The FAQs often first appear about a week after the game is released, however the quality of the FAQs gets better as time passes and people get more experienced at the game.
I think that FAQs are a lot better than manuals, they contain much more useful information. The only downside to them is that they aren’t official and don’t contain as much technical information.
