“ All the PlayStation has to offer, but in a little package. Well, littler anyway. Basically, the PS One contains the hardware of the original PlayStation, but has been compressed to the following dimensions: 193mm wide by 38mm high by 144mm deep. It weighs „

This was first Playstation console and precedes the Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 which have all been successful consoles. The important issue was to get the first generation correct and then lead from there. The PS1 was released in Japan first and has always traditionally done this. One of the first games I got for this console was Fifa 98 road to the world cup and was one of my all time favourite football games. Other games such as final fantasy, metal gear solid and Ridge Racer became massive hits for the PS1 and made it one of the most successful consoles of all time. The console was made up of a CD-ROM, an eject, reset and on/off button. The original colour was grey but new releases can be in any colour. The newest Playstations are able to play old PS1 games which enable gamers to relive past times. This is a classic and will be remembered for years to come!
The PS one is the smaller, more compact version of the playstation, around about the same size as a freeview box. ok, i know the playstation 2 and 3 are out now, but if you don't have the budget for them then this is still a suitable alternative. You can pick up a console, controllers, and a game or two for well under £20 making it a really cheap bit of fun - most modern console games cost at least that just for a game. ok the graphics aren't great, but there is something retro about the blocky animation that actually makes it cool. and with shops such as gamestation as well as the likes of amazon and ebay it is really easy to track down second hand games for a couple of pound! Also if you have little ones, its a good idea to have one for them to get used to looking after a games console.... without risking a few hundred quid if they get a bit heavy handed!
The Playstation One was the beginning of Sony's reign over the console market. The graphics and sound of the games are very limited by today's standards, and the gameplay will also feel dated. This console has long seen it's tenth birthday, and isn't really holding up that well in appearances. I still have my PSone plugged into my TV, and it's great to play some of the old games and reminisce. However it must be said that this console is the easiest I have ever had for setting up and beginning to play, and despite looking and feeling quite dated it is still very fun to play. It is also one of the hardiest consoles, perhaps ever. Mine is at least 13 years old, 5 or 6 of which it spent neglected in a cupboard and it still works perfectly. The games are still as addictive as ever, and what's more the games can be picked up from around £2-5, which is a bargain for some of the titles. The console itself ranges from £10-30. Fans of Xbox Live Arcade and the games of Playstation Network should definately consider buying themselves a PSone. A PSone memory card is required to save the games though, unfortunately as it has no internal storage system and the memory cards are getting harder and harder to find. Overall, despite strong competition from all other consoles that are currently out, this console has one advantage over every single console out today. Price. The cheapness of everything on it makes it a worthwhile investment, and games are getting more and more collectible as time goes on. Worth a look at the least.
Well, look at this. Sony have recently decided to drop the price of the original Playstation 1 to the grand sum of £50. For this price you get yourself a nice little console that has got quite possibly the worlds widest selection of games, although the PSOne hasn`t stood the test of time incredibly well. I`ve had my PSOne for quite a while now, almost a year, and have more than had my moneys worth of play out of it. I haven`t bought many games for it, but the games I have got are very good indeed. For example, you can get Final Fantasy 7 on the PSOne for about £10, and this game will take you at least 25-30 hours of playing to finish - a lot more if you want to explore every little corner and find all the secrets hidden away. The biggest problem the PSOne has these days is in the graphics department. While I do still enjoy playing on the PSOne for the retro feel, the graphics have been left miles behind by the likes of the PS2, Dreamcast and most especially the Gamecube. I`m sure everyone on the planet now knows what the controller on the original PSOne is like - two analogue pads, one digital pad and lots of buttons. It is fairly well designed, being quite comfortable to hold and use, but not as nice as either the Dreamcast or Gamecube controller. having said that there are many more styles of third-party controller available for the PSOne, which means that you should be able to find one that suits you no matter what. If you already have a Dreamcast I`d strongly suggest you get yourself a Playstation, since the pair complement each other very well, but if you have to make the choice then go for the Dreamcast over the Playstation. The Dreamcast is the same price, the games are much cheaper and the graphics are so much better it`s beyond belief.
This is a new version of the original Playstaion, but now a third of the size. This new Playstation 1 was basically created but sony to cut down cost using cheaper components. It takes advantage of smaller technology being ver small, thin and light, but still outputs the same thing as the original would. There are some great bindles around this Christmas, and can now be bought for a steal of £99. There is a list of the current £99 deal in on e of my other opinions, so click on my name if you’re interested in finding out more. PS1 is a good deal, if you already have the original Playstation, don’t bother, but I f your on a budget and fancy taking advantage of some good cheap games this Christmas, then the PS1 may be for you. The PS1 is that small that there will soon be and LCD screen released with a car power adapter, so does this mean we have competition for the Gameboy? It may be costly though with the PS1 costing £75 and the screen said to be costing £110 you could get a Gameboy for £100 less. ****UPDATE**** Picked up a PS1 deal; PS1, Worms;Armageddon,Micromachines and Who wants to be a millionaire. I a extremely happy, the console is very small and essentially very reliable (doesn't overheat).
