I didn't think I would enjoy a boxing game, so the main reason I bought this game was because of the link to the classic Rocky films. The game is perfect for fans of the film because as you progress you fight all of the classic fights that appeared in the films, and some others as well. Naturally you play as Rocky and luckily it is quite a realistic likeness which was important to me as a fan of the series. As you fight there is realistic damage to you and your opponent's bodies as you pummel each other around the ring.
In the game you control Rocky with a fairly small number of buttons which means it is easy to learn to play but there is also a challenge for anyone who wants to take it further as you learn little tricks and combos to gain the edge. You can turn Rocky into whatever you want, as between fights you play minigames to improve statistics such as speed and strength (I found these pretty difficult actually, not to mention boring as you just tap buttons as fast as you can.) There is also a brilliant multiplayer, as you and a friend can choose from dozens of boxers to fight against each other and I have to say that it is one of my favourite games for multiplayer!
The Rocky movies created a legend out of a small-time boxer determined to succeed. Now you can attempt to go the distance as the Italian Stallion and many other familiar fighters. Whether youre a fan of the movies or just like a good boxing game, youll find much to enjoy in this buff package from Ubi Soft. Starting as a club boxer from the mean streets of Philadelphia, Rocky gets his unlikely shot at the big time in a match with heavyweight champion Apollo Creed. An underdog turned top dog, Rocky went on to face powerful pugilists in five wildly popular movies. Publisher Ubi Soft doesnt pull any punches in its videogame revival of the Rocky series. With video montages of inspirational Rocky moments, 30 boxers ripped from the movies, voice from star Sylvester Stallone and a solid boxing engine, fans will find it hard to put down their Controllers.
