Following the run away success of their football game (aptly named Sensible Soccer), Sensible Software moved into a golf franchise. Originally named Sensible golf, the graphics are almost identical with the same big headed little men and the courses are very similar to a cross between the football pitches from sensible soccer and the battlefields of cannon fodder. The controls are very simple. The players role is limited to selecting the club to hit with although on easier levels this is selected for you and then power up the swing by holding down the space key. Overall this game is quite good. Although the controls are simple it can be surprisingly difficult and I spent several games mis-hitting the ball before I even managed a decent swing of the ball. I have to say I do not enjoy this game nearly as much as sensible software's other releases. It is partly because it is golf (a game I am not particularly fond of) and partly because it doesen't have the adrenalin induced competitiveness of sensible soccer or the fast paced action of the shoot-em-up cannon fodder. Overall I won't recommend this game to golf sim fans because to be blunt it isn't what you are looking for. For the rest of you it is maybe worth a spin now it is available for only a fiver but bare in mind sensi's trademark graphics and you may still have fun.
