Shadow the Hedgehog is a new direction and new spin off along the same lines as Sonic the Hedgehog. I played it recently on the Gamecube having played Sonic a few times and it's good fun at first I thought but in the end not as good as Sonic in my opinion.
In regards to the plot you play Shadow the hedgehog. He has lost his memory since the Sonic games and you have to decide which road he should take in life. You can either choose to be the hero and go that direction and help sonic and his friends, or you can go down your own route and find out Shadow's destiny. And then you can go down the villain route and try to take over the world. So you have a choice of what you want to do.
For me, it was quite fun to play initially and the fact that you can play alternate storylines adds to the interest factor. In the majority of the missions and stages there are three choices - good, evil and neutral. There is a good deal of replay value in the game due to the options.
In my opinion, the graphics in Shadow the Hedgehog are the best of an of the Sonic games thus far which is a huge bonus as adds to the enjoyment. Alot of the levels are very high in detail and really stand out.
Overall, it's not a bad game to play and if you like Sonice the Hedgehog then you will most probably like this one too.
Again i am ahuge sonic the hedgehog and spin off fan but this game was rather disapointing also.
After the first three or so cut scenes the graphics rapidly deteriorated. As did the game play and camera angles, which should generally be expected with the majority of 3D sonic games. The sound track wasnt as good as sonic adventure battle 2 either and didnt have a chao garden which could have added hours of gameplay to the game. (chao the little baby blue creatures who evolve into dark or light versions based on who handles them and what fruit you feed them, featured in previous sonic games).
So anyway the story follows the anti - hero shadow the hedgehog as you decide which road he should go down in life, you can choose the hero route and help out sonic and his friends, go down your own route to find out shadows destiny or go down the villain end of things and help dr robotnik and his robots take over the world.
It is fun at first just to play through the game the first time but it gets to be almost impossible to follow missions to go down specific story line routes, for instance to help sonic and go down the hero route you have to kill all the aliens in the course which are difficult to spot and in most levels you cant go backwards so you have to start the level from the beginning, which can take up to 45 minuites for one futile level, this is extremely irritating because sonic games are supposed to be about speed not hunting stuff down.
This can be very irritating and generally put me off the game once i completed the destiny story line, i just didnt bother going through the rest of the plots.
It seems to be a step backwards from sonic adventure battle 2 once again, it could have been soo much better.
Why does shadow need a gun anyway he has the chaos emeralds?
