In this game you play through the game in teams and you chose you characters, there are 3 main types of characters, speed, flying and power types. You must use the different characters to solve puzzles and get through the levels as quicka s you can
You are playing through the story where Eggman challenges Sonic as he believe he can take over the world and obviously sonic accepts and here we are, playing Sonic Heroes.
The levels in thi s game are really big and can take up to 15 minutes to complete however they are quite fun with a variety of things to do and enemies to kill here and there too. The bosses are a lot harder than in any previous games which isa welcome change as I could never stand how easy some the older sonic games were.
Now gameplay changes dependsing on the teams yopu chose like with the all star classic sonic, tales and knuckles team its all about speed, speed and thats right more speed. Getting to the end of the level as quick as possible. However with a darker team like team drak you gotta destrpy certain numbers of enemies.
Overall it's a fun game and definately a change from the ususal sonic styled game. Worth having a little look at.
A game that has been strongly criticizedby fans of Sonic, others just pick up the game and say ive had enough already.
Some Sonic fans like myself find this game to be pretty good, the platforing forward running 3d gaming pays off really well, the graphics look fantastic.
The game can be quite flawed in some different ways depending on what version of the game you have, the PC version depending on your system hardware at tops will give you fantastic graphics, great sound, controls are okay, Gamecube and XBOX versions are best console versions with the best graphics and frame rate, very recommended you buy this one if you dont have a high quality pc. But the big let down is that the Playstation 2 version, its awful the graphics look poor, the controls are worse, the sound is really stuffy, and low volumed, and the frame rate is very bad, steer clear of that one if you want this game and have this system and have the others too.
The game over all platforms is good the story is okay i guess, i like the way you can switch characters, but the flurry of extra characters are too much and doesn't make the game look good, to be honest with you it's worth playing as Sonic, Tails and Knuckles and ignoring the rest.
There are some very bad points of the game, in the casino levels when you get to the pinball tables and ramps, they send you everywhere leaving things uncontrollable, and when you take on the other character team bosses at the end of some levels, they are stupidly unchallengable, with no strategy in place for you to challenge them, you can get lucky sometimes by bashing buttons, these are very bad and could really have been changed before final released, otherwise its very good to play, its a fairly good challenge and is like a proper old school sonic game except for the fact that you tag characters.
Sonic, Robotnik and other characters returned with this game, Sonic Heroes!
I have always been a fan of the cute hedgehog and his battles against evil (the typical struggle we all love!) so I was looking forward to this game.
Unlike the early Sonic games, this one is in 3D, which means it is difficult to control when you start to play the game. This, however, is the only thing I dont like about the game!
You can play by yourself or against your friends and family, and both options are great fun!
You have to choose which team you are, and in the team you get three characters to play with (which you can switch between by pressing a button on the controller). Each of the characters has a different superpower, which means that when you need a certain something at a part of the game, you can change to the relevant character, which adds more interest to the game.
Overall, I liked this game a lot, but the 3D was disappointing.
This is a review on the game Sonic Heroes. Sonic Heroes is the newest proper Sonic game. It is done in 3D shamefully, and has a whole lot of new characters for you to play with. This game is very similar to all the other Sonic games, but has its changes; it is a lot like Sonic Adventure 2, but different still. You get to control three people at once, and there are four teams.
Sonic the Hedgehog
Tails (Also Known As Miles)
Knuckles the Echidna
Shadow the Hedgehog
Rogue the Bat
E - 123 Omega
Amy Rose the Hedgehog
Cream the Rabbit and Cheese the Chao
Big the Cat and Froggy
Espio the Chameleon
Vector the Crocodile
Charmy the Bee
They are all good, Team Sonic and Team Dark are the harder teams, and so if you are a first timer, I would recommend you playing as either Team Rose or Team Chaotix.
The game itself is pretty good, when you are in mid game, you can switch between your team members by pushing a button. The controls are easy to get use to so don't worry. Each team has their own specially made story-line, so it won't be so repetitive. The aim of the game is to get to the end of each level, without dying, also collecting as many rings as you can, and all that stuff. It has the same basics as the original Sonic games do which is good in some ways, so you will know what you have to do, but there are different types of bad guys, and levels.
Each character from the teams has their own speciality, like one of them will be very strong, the other one will be the fast one, and the third will be the one that can fly, like in Team Sonic for instance, Tails will be the flying one, Sonic is the fast one and Knuckles is the strong one. When you collect one hundred rings, you will get a life up, that is why it is so important to get as many rings as possible.
This game is also two player, you unlock two player functions by completing levels in one player mode, the more levels you complete, the more two player functions you unlock. Two player modes has loads of stuff for you to do, but you only have one unlocked at start which is racing, but that is also very fun.
The game is pretty playable, fairly enjoyable to play; it is good mostly for one player, but the two players is fun also. I would not say that this is better then the classic Sonic games, and still would not even say it is the best 3D Sonic game, but it is still worth playing. The game is pretty addictive at start, and then you will start to dwindle away from it, and start playing other games that might be more fun, or just as fun.
Sonic Heroes is the first game to introduce the three character play, and the Sonic teams, which makes this game different to the other Sonic games, and also which makes this game sort of good. The games graphics is awesome, very good graphics, with all the detail in the characters, and the environment, and just everything really, all great graphics.
There are voices in this game, done in English, so you will hear the characters talk, and make grunting noises when they attack, to show you that they are normal, and not stuffed or anything like that. The background music to this game is good, has all the type of music from all of the Sonic games, but like always, it is different to the others, yet the same sort of mood.
The sound effects in the game is good, with all of the blowing up noises, and the footsteps, and the grinding on the rail noises, it makes the game really good. The game is difficult, then not difficult, depending on which team you decide to be, if you are Team Sonic / Team Dark, then it will get a lot harder during the game then you being Team Rose / Team Chaotix.
The game is now in the platinum range, so you should be able to find it for around £10, which is good for this type of game, as it is not too dear, and you never know if you will love it. I thought this game was not bad, but I have seen much better Sonic games out there, so I shall give this Sonic game 3 star * * *, as it is worth playing, and is pretty addictive, but it is not the best around. I recommend this game to all Sonic fans and pretty much everyone, as it is only 3+.
THIS GAME IS
With Sonic And The Gang
THIS GAME IS NOT
As Good As Classic Sonic Games
Hope you found this review useful to you, and if not, then let me know what I can add, and I shall do what I can to make it useful for you.
Thanks For Reading
Think back to a time when sonic first appeared on any video game console. He was that instant hit that everyone fell in love with. He had the cool blue look and could run at super sonic speeds. Then as years passed and more sequels were released, more and more extra characters were thought up to try and keep the games fresh. What we end up with is sonic with 11 allies! Sonic was never about working in a team, but clearly sonic team had other ideas since the idea behind this new sonic adventure is that you work in a team with 2 other allies. There are 4 different teams:Sonic, Dark, Chaotix, Rose. Each member of the team must work together to solve puzzles and get through the levels as fast as possible. Each team is split into 3 types of character. One is speed type, one is flying and one is power. Each have their own distinct abilities apart from the obvious, eg. power types can also float. The story is based around Eggman (Robotnik) sending sonic a note that he will take over the world and he challenges him to try and stop him. The story progresses and theres some interesting twists in the story. There isnt much of a story, but they give enough to work out whats happening. The rest you should use your imagination for! Each level is huge and there is much variety. They run in an old school sonic fashion with no real reason whey they move from a castle to an air ship in the air. But there is enough info given to work something out in your own mind. The levels are absolutley huge and some you could be spending 10 minutes on before you actually reach the end. They're that big! Bosses are somewhat toughened this time. Instead of the usual 8 hits to destroy Eggmans Robots at the end of act 2, the hit count can go up to over 100!. Dont worry as a little bubble tells you how many hits are left. Also for some level bosses, Eggman sends wave after wave of robots at you, which you much defeat to continue. The storys cross at some points too and t
he teams must fight, usually for stupid reasons. Each team has a different style of play. Team sonic (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles) is about speed and trying to get to the end of the level as fast as possible. Team dark (shadow, Rouge, Omega) is set around combat and there is a set amount of enemies you must destroy in each level. Team Rose (Amy, Cream+Cheese, Big) is a super simplified game for beginners with shortened levels and less enemies. Team Chaotix (Vector, Espio, Charmy) is set so you must do missions, like collect items (like knuckles levels in the adventure games). For those that dont know, the chaotix have been remade, based on their counterparts from an old sega 32x, an add-on to the megadrive/genesis, called knuckles chaotix. Multiplayer is kinda boring. It is basically a lot of racing but with a great decrease in frame rate and its noticable. Overall it is a fun game and definately deserves a spot in any sonic fans collection. Although its not the best game around at least sonic team is trying to improve the series instead of it becoming repetitive and being basically the same game being remade with different levels. There isnt much of a replay factor but I would definately recommend anyone to pick up a copy anyway!
The Background: You can't fail to recognise Sonic - the little blue hedgehog who's been around for what feels like forever, and who first appeared on the Sega Megadrive. Sonic Heroes sees a variety of characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog games return to attempt to defeat the evil Dr Eggman (I'm sure in the very first Sonic game he was called Dr Robotnik?!). What's New With This Game? The difference with this game compared to the others that have come before it, is that you play all the way through in a team of three characters. Between the three characters in any one team, they have three unique hero abilities - power, speed and fly. As you play this game, you control three characters at once, and have to swap the leader of the team depending on what skill you need to use at any one time! The Teams: There are four teams within the game that you can choose from: Team Sonic - Consists of: * Sonic The Hedgehog (speed) * Knuckles the Echidna (power) * Miles "Tails" Prower (fly) Team Dark - Consists of: * Shadow The Hedgehog (speed) * E-123 Omega (power) * Rouge the Bat (fly) Team Rose - Consists of: * Amy Rose (speed) * Big the Cat (power) * Cream the Rabbit (fly) Team Chaotix - Consists of: * Espio the Chameleon (speed) * Vector the Crocodile (power) * Charmy Bee (fly) Depending on which team you chose to use, the game will be slightly different. For the standard game you should choose Team Sonic, for a more difficult game with more challenging battles you should choose Team Dark, for a beginners game or a version for younger players choose Team Rose, and for a version of the game where you take on particular missions choose Team Chaotix. The Game: In the unlikely event that you've never played a Sonic game before I'll give a brief run down of the basic idea
behind one of Sonic's adventures... Basically the evil Dr Eggman is the baddy of the game, and is normally on some dark mission to ruin everything that's nice. Sonic and his buddies set out to conquer Dr Evil and return the world to it's happy state. In Sonic Heroes, as already mentioned, you play in a team of three. Whoever the leader of the team is at any one time is the main character you focus on when controlling the team. This character normally situates himself at the front or in the middle of the three so it's obvious who you're controlling, and there's also a symbol in the top corner of the screen to remind you who the current leader is. The game follows the usual Sonic premise, in that it's a platform game where you have to defeat enemies along your way to the goal at the end. As with a few of the later Sonic games, this is 3D, which means you can travel in any direction on the screen, as opposed to the much earlier games where you typically travelled from left to right. The team collect rings on their way through the levels - these help to protect them should they get hurt on their travels, and also help to provide them with extra life (for every 100 collected). As with the usual Sonic format, at the end of every 2 or 3 levels there is a 'boss stage' where you come head to head with Dr Eggman himself and have to defeat whatever weapon it is he's using against your team. Additionally, like the previous Sonic games, you can access Special Stages after levels that enable you to collect Chaos Emeralds (these are the stones you need to put the world back in order and defeat Dr Eggman)! Sonic Heroes also involves many more manoeuvres than in previous versions. Each formation (i.e. whenever you change the team leader) can produce different moves that can help to combat the enemy ? the group will work as a team to beat their way through them, for example, with Tails as the leader, Tails flies and
the other Sonic and Knuckles hold on below him. In their special move to defeat enemies, Tails throws his team mates like cannon balls at the enemy. Sonic Heroes also includes the option of a two-player mode where each player controls their own team and battles head-to-head to achieve the highest score in accordance with a mission objective. There's also a challenge mode which lets you repeat any levels you have already completed to see if you can better your time / scores, and a tutorial mode, which is excellent for helping you get to grips with controlling the formations. So Is The Game Worth Buying? If you?ve enjoyed any of the other Sonic games, then chances are you?ll like this. It follows the original format, but also adds a few little extras to it to make it that bit different and newer. Controlling the three characters in different formations can be a bit tricky at first, but you soon get the hang of quickly changing the leader of the group to utilise their special skills. If you never really liked Sonic games before, then this one isn?t different enough to change your viewpoint, so you?d probably do best to avoid it. Being an avid Sonic fan in the past I think the game is great and worthy of five stars, but to anyone who isn?t really a Sonic enthusiast I don?t think they?d rate it much more than average. (Please note, the version of the game I own is on PS2, however I am sure that the format of the game is pretty much the same on both PS2 and Gamecube, however, once the category is introduced for PS2 I will see if I can get this moved). Five Stars ***** Thanks for reading!
