      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I am a huge fan of the X-files and once I had all the books and videos etc I wondered ‘what else can I get now?’ then a mate of mine suggested these Collector Cards, and I found them to have fantastic graphics, be of high quality with amazing extra inserts and I found them highly collectable! There are many different series of X-files cards from many different companies and countries, but I will focus on the Topps series of collector cards. There are several series published by Topps: - Series 1, 2 & 3 (plus a new series of cards combining the TV shows series 4&5, but as I do not yet own them I cannot review them. Each series consist of a 72 card basic set, containing high quality cards displaying stills from the shows, behind the scenes effects and fantastic hand drawn artwork on the front, with information about the episode/effect on the back. Also are the extra inserts, which are in my opinion the best part of the series as they are quite rare, making them highly collectable (some worth over £5 each). There are various types of insert cards, such as 3D hologram cards giving a fantastic effect when in sunlight. The foil-etched cards are even better as they are multi-coloured, reflective and feel good to the touch. Also in the 3rd series the XPF card was introduced, which is kind of a cross between a foil card and a hologram card giving a great, oil type effect. Also an extra collectable is promotional cards that are given out through various other mediums (such as in sci-fi magazines and conventions) making some of them worth upwards of £10 each. The feeling of satisfaction when you complete a set is fantastic! To open your folder and see page upon page of complete cards is great, and to see all the special inserts on the same page in the sun looks amazing. It is even better if you know someone else who collects them as then you can swap your extras to complete your set quicker, an
d not have to buy them full price or through an on-line auction such as E-bay as I had to. I think these cards are fantastic; I love collecting them and would recommend them to anyone! ;)
