“ The fifth in the Tomb Raider series by Eidos, Tomb Raider: Chronicles sees you as Lara Croft, again in a third person perspective, acquiring four unusual artefacts in four different settings. New inclusions to Lara's repertoire include the ability to „
Lara Croft is an icon. The flaxen haired lovely has appeared in four fabulous Tomb Raider games, modelled on the catwalk and even starred on the cover of style magazines. Unfortunately, Tomb Raider Chronicles sees her untimely demise. Whaaaat? Lara's dead? How could this be? Chronicles follows on from the end of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, which sees Lara trapped in a tomb at the finale. With Lara gone at the beginning of the game, you might not think that there was much of a game waiting for you, but Tomb Raider Chronicles is played in flashback mode. Six friends from her past (Winston the butler, Father Dunstan, Jean Yves, Werner Von-Croy, Larson and Pierre) retell her amazing adventures - this is where you come in. This allows more freedom of gameplay, as the levels all have different objectives and you aren't tied down to one mission and one goal. The levels vary from Italian cities to a German U-boat to Ireland, and each level is huge. They also look gorgeous, with the good people at Core Design really pushing to their limits. But is Lara really dead? Well, the adventures from her past might just reveal something about her future, and with every new level you complete, something becomes a little clearer about Lara's fate. Besides, you don't want me to tell you, do you? As with the other progressions in the Tomb Raider series, Lara has loads of new moves to show you. If you are tired of filling your enemy full of lead, you can now beat them in with a baseball bat, or for the pacifists out there, you can take them down softly by knocking them out with a chloroform-soaked handkerchief. Another new move is Lara's tightrope walk - edge her across a rope suspended between two points and she will balance herself carefully and slowly tiptoe forward. Balance her properly or you will have a Lara pancake to clean up. She can also swing on bars to reach higher levels like a gymnast. The new format seems a lo
t fresher, and breathes new life into the Tomb Raider series (which some might say was flagging a bit). Tomb Raider Chronicles is better looking, more diverse and a lot more interesting to play than the previous (admittedly excellent) games. But is she dead? Well... you'll just have to find out for yourself!
The Tomb Raider chronicle Its that time again, the middle of November, TOMB RAIDER MONTH. This time of year we have come to expect a release of the Tomb Raider series, but are they actually improving on it? Tomb Raider 1was originally, and in all cases an excellent game, everyone owned a copy it came out on all consoles, then Tomb Raider 2 came out. This was a better game, different story, new moves and better graphics. Lara now becomes very well known for here assets Then it all went wrong As Eidos began to cash in more and more on lara Tomb Raider 3 came out, which ran the franchise very thin. The usual Lara, somehow jumping about the planet at differing locations, and not doing any Tomb Raiding in the whole game, as the title may suggest. Oh no then Tomb Raider 4, it was now becoming very boring, just Tomb Raider 3 with slightly better graphics a few new move etc. To this date there still cashing in on Lara, yes the first Tomb Raider was a classic, but it had been milked to death, and I bet the new Tomb Raider 5 will not be the last I have warned you, you get lost and very, very bored if you purchase this game, get a poster of Lara instead.
Well I haven't writen an opinion in a while but thought as I was starting again that this was the place to start! I hav played and mastered all the Tomb Raider games to date!(as i'm sure most of you have before you write to me!) and I am hoping that this is not going to be an exeption. It is a follow on to TR4 and I won't say what happens at the end because if you haven't finished TR4 yet it will be like watching the 6th sense knowing all along!!! You get to play Lara as a girl again in Ireland! and also you meet Piere and Larson from the very first TR game! Baisically it is what you would expect, she does a few new moves (tightrope walking for one!) and we are set new chalenges but if you like the other TR games then this is just as good if not a better contender!
