It’s always the same old presents at Christmas isn’t it? Books, Clothes, CD’s, Socks, Underwear…. The list is endless. Well, how about buying something different this year, like one of the new “Amazing Adventure” packages from WH Smiths. I know your thinking ‘WHSmiths, that’s just a bookshop’, but the new products they’re offering are very appealing. Yes, you could be a passenger in Space on one of WHSmiths commercial Space flights, or even drive a Formula One car! They state that they have 48 different Adventures available. And I’m warning you some of them are quite extreme with a massive price ... Read the complete review

A True Story!! Back in the dark ages, (1996 actually, it just seems along time ago!) I was taking my lunchtime stroll with some of my mates from work and we were gossiping about the usual suspects, yawn! yawn!, when all of a sudden I broke with tradition and said "Right it’s my Dads 60 birthday in November and I really don't know what to get him. It’s got to be something very special and something he'll never forget." As you can imagine my outburst was met with stunned silence and blank expressions. Then one of my more with-it friends suggested I took a look at the leaflets in the reception area of our office because he ... Read the complete review

I am one of those people who loves giving presents, and I like those presents to seem well thought out and apt for the receiver (as well as being a bit different from the normal socks and chocolate route). This year for my wife of one year this proved to be a difficult task. I had already bought her jewellery for her birthday and lots of healthcare and beauty accessories (including an electrolysis wand) for Christmas last year. This year I wanted something special, as it was our first Christmas as a married couple. My normal procedure is to wander aimlessly around the shops looking at everything. Alas except for a very nice evening dress I could not ... Read the complete review

I have already written an opinion under the home-made category and unfortunately cannot find a way to add another gift idea so I have decided to put it here instead. Well, it will be unusual when it is finished! Children love to give and are very eager and proud when they can make something for themselves. When my oldest children were younger they made these for Mum, Grans and Aunts and were very proud to give them. They were also received with gratitude and meant more to the receivers as they were made with thought and effort by the child. Save all the empty coffee and jam jars. Peel off the labels and wash them thoroughly. Most ... Read the complete review

OK - you wanted some unusual Gift Ideas and here are some for your perusal : I think it’s only fair to warn you before reading this Christmas Gift opinion, that one of my all time heroes was Ebeneezer Scrooge. - OK, I know that he eventually saw the wisdom of generosity, but yon big ghost that appeared in front of Scrooge, never appeared in my bedroom, and until he does I will continue to be the second most tight fisted dooyooer in Glasgow. Who - you might ask is the first most tight fisted dooyooer in Glasgow. The answer is - my missus. It is a historical fact that the 50p piece was designed as it was, with flat edges, so that it could be ... Read the complete review
