Advantages: A real treat for recipient.
Disadvantages: Takes a bit of time and planning.
Every year to do something a bit different for my mum or sisters or if their lucky my dad and hubby,i create my own personalised gift basket! Say for example it was my mum then this is what i would do for her. Firstly get a lovely basket either a wicker (set of three ikea around £6) or a standard whatever you like depending on yopur budget and the person. You can put an array of things into it,i always get my mum's favourite lipsticks, foundations and moisturisers and smelly soaps. Then i will get a big bottle of Badedas which i know she adore's. A pair of funny socks (£1.99 up) or naughty knickers which will make her laugh. A box of chocolates or a bag from Thornton's which you can pick up for 99p. A miniture bottle of champagne goes down a treat (usually from France month's previous). A photo with her darling Grand-daughter in a frame saying Nanna or something. A scarf for the bottom of the basket with a nice pair of gloves. A packet of cigarettes and lastly if i can afford it a £10 gift voucher. I alsways wrap every little thing up and spend what i can afford,so you can suit it to every budget. I do this for all my family and it is great for anniversaries etc. You can collect this throughout the year then it seems that you haven't spent hardly anything.

- 25/02/01 Great idea, and although your Op was rather short, it was well detailed and explained! Great idea about buying things throughout the year! |

- 25/11/00 I have done something similar for many people inn past - but I tend to for the theme of 'treasure chest'. I buy a lovely wooden chest hinges and all, then find lots of small presents (chocolates, toys etc) and wrap them up in shiny paper, add a lot of loose chocolate coins - hey presto a treasure chest! |

- 21/11/00 I definatley would have to get bits through out the year as my budget would not stretch to this! Lovely idea - a bit like a stocking I suppose. |
