I think it’s only fair to warn you before reading this Christmas Gift opinion, that one of my all time heroes was Ebeneezer Scrooge. - OK, I know that he eventually saw the wisdom of generosity, but yon big ghost that appeared in front of Scrooge, never appeared in my bedroom, and until he does
I will continue to be the second most tight fisted dooyooer in Glasgow.

Who - you might ask is the first most tight fisted dooyooer in Glasgow. The answer is - my missus. It is a historical fact that the 50p piece was designed as it was, with flat edges, so that it could be screwed out of my good lady’s hand with a spanner.

I personally am one of these people who stop dead in the middle of a busy street to pick up pennies and especially the wee silver treasures -- , 5p pieces.

So, my unusual ideas for Christmas Gifts, while saving cash at Christmas Present time include :

Tell all your in-laws and out-laws that you are going away for a wee holiday abroad over the festive season and you will send them an unusual e-greeting present while abroad. This move could save you a fortune:

For those people who you must buy a wee present, - Get them a lottery ticket, then, if it comes up as a big win, they might remember you, or then again, they might breathe a sigh of relief, thinking you are still abroad, and be living in Bermuda by the time you were supposed to get back home:

If yourself and wife/loved one both use mobile phones, casually let them know that you intend to get them a phone voucher, and hope that they get you one back : They might even get you a more expensive one than the one that you gave them ! :

You already know what to give the folks who borrowed your CD and returned it all scratched. Yes - Give them the CD !

This one’s a real money saver and, I think, most unusual ! - Give the kid&

empty boxes -- and tell them - It was a Cindy Doll or an Action Man, who ESCAPED !! This one always works, and the look of amazement on the wee kid’s faces, -- that you actually got them a Real Action Man, is always a pleasure to see. This one serves two purposes - It saves you a lot of 5p’s and the wee kiddies will love you forever !

You might be thinking by now - is there any end to auldmac’s meanness, but it gets worse.

Recently, myself and lovely tight-fisted lady actually offered to attend lamorna’s Christmas Stramash and risk the dire consequences, just to try and get some free food at the festive season !!

Anyway, for the folk’s who you "doo" really like, and would be happy to give an unusual present - I recommend giving them one of your homing pigeons - how inexpensive can you get !

Seriously folks, I love the festive season, and am looking forward to giving and receiving, and having a lot of time writing and reading and rating your dooyoos. Right now, i'm away to write some more dooyoos in an attempt to get a wee Christmas Present from our other provider - dooyoo
