Looking back 3 or 4 years, you would have thought that THQ would have gone to the bottom of the barrel but surely enough, THQ impressed nay-sayers with Smackdown 2, for the Playstation. The game is filled with bagloads of modes, characters and other extras. Such wrestlers as The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, Kane, The Undertaker, Edge, Christian and many, many more. If you were aprehensive about buying before, Smackdown 1 is now on Platinum, even more reasons why you should buy this classy game.
Smackdown1 was the hottest WWF game avaliable on the market last year but that was until YUKES & THQ created WWF Smackdown2:Know Your Role! Smackdown2 is still one of the hottest game you can but with a very large choice of wrestlers including: T azz, Rikishi, Perry Saturn, Chris Beniot, Eddy Guerrero, Crash Holly, Bull Buchanon, Dean Malenko, Essa Rios, Funaki, Grand master Sexay, Scotty 2 hotty, cat, Kurt Angle, Lita, Michael Cole, Trish and all the old favourites like the Rock & Undertaker! There are lots of different match types including: TLC .Casket match .Table Match .Ladder Match .Hell in a Cell .Iron Man .Hardcore .2 on 1 .Survival .and all the old school matches like 1 on 1, and tag team. ... and many many more Backstage areas range from the shower room to the VIP guest room! The Graphics The graphics are very relistic and if you like I judge a game on the graphics the this is a game for you. The Modes There are many different modes, such as: .Create a Wrestler .Create a Stable .Create a Taunt .Create a Manager .Season Although there are so many modes once you've played the game as much as I have you will find the modes boring and the game inplayable. Yukes will certainly lay the Smackdown on all other playstation games that even dare to challenge them to 1st place on santa's christmas list for another year!!!
There are a considerable amount of wrestlers compared to smackdown 1. The moves have been updated which means that you will be able to do moves such as the worm, the crippler or the olympic slam! The only thing i was dissapointed about was the entrances but due to memory THQ couldn't improve this! There is a much broader range of fighting areas such as the restaraunt and WWF Newyork. The CAW option is superb as you can now change every minute detail down to the shape and size of his nose! All types of unique matches have been included: Hell in a Cell, Casket match, Ladder match, Iron man match, Street Fight, TLC (tables, ladders & chairs)match, Submission matches, Tornado tag-matches, and of course the table match where the objective is to drive your opponent through a table by any means possible. This aswell as the matches in Smackdown1: cage match, falls count anywhere, hardcore, special guest referee, King of the Ring, etc. This time around you don't have to complete a pre-season as your created wrestler before being allowed into the full season mode, in Smackdown2 you go straight into season mode. In season mode you get awarded prizes for getting so far which generally fit in with the WWF storyline, for example you can't play as Stone Cold Steve Austin until you get to the Backlash PPV just like in real life. If you get bored you can always try createing a manager, taunt, or stable (a group of wrestlers) to keep you entertained. On the graphical side of things there is not a great deal of improvement but thats not to say its got bad graphics. Just the little things like the lights on the ramp which weren't in the last game, have nothing to do with the actual gameplay but is a nice touch all the same add to the games graphical finesse. The gameplay remains largely the same although the pace has been slowed down just a little to allow you a bit more time to get your finisher in. This is a must have for any wwf fan alough if you h
ave number 1 you might want to wait for the orice to drop a little!
THQ have done it again! This incredible sequel to the legendary WWF Smackdown! leaves it's predecessor out in the cold. For a start there is a staggering selection of game modes that allow you to combine different kinds of matches to suit your wildest fantasties such as a 'Tornado Tag Table Match' or 'Hardcore Special Referee'. The game has a database of well over 50 of the WWF's top superstars and allows you to create 10 new stars of your very own, with a vastly improved 'Create A Wrestler' feature. You can now go into massive amounts of detail with this feature, choosing the exact shape of nose, the shade of eye colour, length and style of hair. Even better, if you can't be bothered with this amount of detail, you can still create a great looking wrestler with ease. Clothing and accessories are fully customisable so that your wrestler is completely unique. You can choose from literally hundreds of moves too. If i was to describe every feature, i would be here all day. The graphics and stadiums have been improved with all the ring-mats that are seen on TV and different PPV arenas for special events. The crowds now hold up signs that change depending on which wrestler is in the ring. The only gripe I have about the graphics is the fact that sometimes, when there is a big difference in wrestler height/weight, the grappling can sometimes look silly with wrestlers failing to grasp their opponent properly, but performing the move anyway, which is a little disappointing. The season mode has also been improved with more storylines and backstage scenes than before. It may hold your attention for a few months, but starts to get repetetive afterwards which is a shame because it has good potential. This game can be given a whole new lease of life when you get a friend to play with you, or better still a few friends with the 'multi-tap' adaptor. It certainly adds prolonged interest af
ter you get bored with one-player mode. This game has provided me with hours of fun and, even though there is room for improvement, it is a well-thought-out and highly addictive game.
Even though i said that no mercy was better than smackdown two theres not much between them because i perfur the moves in this game than no mercy and the entrencess are exelent and being able to do your specil moves at any point in the match is a bonus. The game play is nice and smooth but the disadvatege is loading time because you wait for ages just to play the game. i would recomend the game because i want to get a playstaion just to have the game and i perfer this game but i can admit no mercy is better.
