The third test at Old Trafford, despite petering out into a draw has thrown up some positives for both teams. Marcus Trescothick has suggested that he can play the longer game, and that he does have the technique and attitude to survive Test cricket. Let's not get too carried away yet, as we still have to allow time for teams to devise ways to bowl him out: that is when his technique will be properly scrutinised.
