From a billant first innings by England, England managed where they often fell, by keeping the opposition on the back foot and under pressure. Blowing the Indies out fo 125 with wikects taken by Caddick whom firmly has deserved his place in the England team for the winter series. The Indies had nothing in reply even Ambrose who retried after the match effort went to waste. This was a truely a day for England, hopefully the flowing form will continue for the ashes next year. We are now of the bottom rail of the league table and can hold are heads high with pride. Well... more |

The Oval test showed what a domiant forces England really can be. Athaton (Man of the Match) and Gough ( Man of the Series) drove England to a win over the West Indies which shows that there is still some life in the old dog yet. From a billant first innings by England, England managed where they often fell, by keeping the opposition on the back foot and under pressure. After one of the most exciting and remarkable Test matches ever everything is going well for England, as they lead the series 2-1 with just the Oval Test to play. But is it really the strength of the England team that is winning or does it just reflect the poor state of West Indian cricket. The England side that won the 4th Test had seven of the same players that largely played in the winter series against South Africa - only Graham Thorpe, Marcus Trescothick, Dominic Cork and Craig White are additions.
