Crowned Review Cocktails: Shooters!! (921 words)
by - written on 15/11/00 (Very useful, 391 readings)
Rating:

By shooters I mean shots, the small glasses which you have to knock back in one. It may sound easy, just throw some spirit into a glass and knock it back, however as I have found out there is a whole world of shooters! When I was at uni studying for my undergraduate degree we used to go to this bar which had a shooter menu of 25 drinks and they offered anyone who did the whole lot in one go a T'shirt. Now the rational person would realise that spending £25 on a round of drinks for yourself is quite excessive and the people in the bar must have been laughing all the way to the bank, however at the time all wrapped up in my undergraduate student ways my friend ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Christmas Cocktails (but it's May!) (715 words)

I think I must be going mad! Writing a review about Christmas cocktails in the middle of May. What has made me do this?! Well the fact that I love Christmas and everything to do it probably has given me the push to write the review! Christmas to me does involve a lot of drinking (responsible of course!) and it always has. My mother makes mulled wine, eggnog and a baileys eggnog as well! Around Christmas the house takes on a "spicy fruity" aroma that only one can associate with Christmas! Christmas is a time for family and friends and everyone always loves a good drink and Christmas! Home made drinks are by far the best you can get, despite ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Cocktails: A TO Z OF SHOTS AND COCKTAILS - FROM ATOMIC DOG TO ZIPPERHEA ... (1231 words)

Let’s face it we all like a shot or cocktail from time to time – whether it`s about the experimentation of mixing various drinks or just a way to use up the half bottle of advocaat left over at the end of that party. Most of us stick to the popular variants such as the Pina Colada or Screwdriver but I am going to go for some more unusual concoctions in an A to Z style. Of course mixing shots and cocktails is all about compromising, switching any given drink for a similar one could very well improve the taste for you, and it is after all about what tastes good to you. Measurements given are all relative and depend how much drink you want – as long as you stick to the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Christmas Shekels Numero Uno. Grin! (777 words)

I did warn you. I'm about to hit the Christmas archive with a vengeance (read the category description above, I'm in the right place). Here's my first effort. Two drinks for Christmas parties - not really cocktails, but y'know, almost - that are easy to make, look reasonably posh, and taste nice. SPICY, HOT VODKA WITH CRANBERRY AND ORANGE Oh, it's almost winter, and although we probably won't have a white Christmas because we hope and hope every year and never do, we need to keep up the dreams, don't we? So I'll start you off with a hot, traditional-sounding, but Jill-easy hot vodka recipe. You'll need: ...  Read the complete review
