Advantages: Festive, Happy, Smiles, Laughter, Memorable time of the year
Disadvantages: Nothing at all!
After reading a review about christmas, it has made me feel in the festive mood so I thought I would give a go at writing a review as well.
Christmas is that time of year when everyone (most people), feel jolly and happy and seeing lights and lots of decorations always gets people into the festive mood, and it always brings a smile to my face!
***OUR TREE***
When I was younger we always used to have a real tree, but this stopped quite a few years ago when my parents insisted on getting a smaller fibre optic tree, but I decided this tree was too small it has been replaced by a 6 ft green tree, which I bought from woolworths!
I always stick to using 2 colours for decorating the tree, last year I did the tree a beautiful blue and silver colour, with baubles I purchased from next and tinsel from other shops. I do change the colour of the tree and also have Purple and Red & Gold baubles and decorations as well! We also have beautiful blue led lights which look amazing with the silver and blue decorations, not to mention the chocolate treats hanging from the tree as well!
We have an angel which sits on top of the tree as well, which is gold and handmade and hand-painted, this was bought from a garden centre a few years ago.
***THE REST OF THE HOUSE***
We always hang foil garlands from each corner of the lounge ceiling, and then we pin them all up into the center of the room, we also do this in the dining room as well and then in each section we will hang another foil garland such as stars, bells or reindeers!
We have 4-5 card lines running along the back wall above the sofa to display all the cards we have received.
In our lounge window, my dad will fix lights and we put a small xmas tree and a waving santa and rudolph in the window as well as fake snow and snow-flakes hanging from the ceiling.
Our front door will have a festive transfer picture on the top and bottom half of the door and we also get some of that spray snow and spray along the corners and bottom of the door and windows.
We hang some stockings along the fireplace as well (we never used to do this, as we feel we are too grown up for it), but my sister had a baby boy last year so we tend to make things more special for him now!
***MUSIC***
From time to time we will put on a xmas cd, espicially on xmas day, whilst my nephew is routing through his presents trying to rip the paper off and no doubt eating it! I love Christmas music, it gives me a feel good feeling and gives me a warm, happy, feeling inside.
***MY BEDROOM***
I normally have a small tree in my bedroom which I spray with snow-spray to make it look snowy, then I simply hanf purple and silver icicles from it, which matched the colour of my room. I will also hang tinsel along my shelves as well.
***OUTSIDE***
We dont do anything huge outside of our house because unfortunately, we have had 2-3 families which the council moved to out estate because they were causing trouble and last year they tried to take the lights down from our front porch!
How-ever we do tend to put a small xmas tree outside the door, with some coloured lights on it and we also hang a coloured rope light around the door as well!
***SHOPPING***
I love late night Christmas shopping, and getting treats for Christmas. I love the smell of the big tins of sweets like Roses and Quality Street when you first open them, and all the tubs of crisps and snack like cheesy footballs and big tubs of twiglets. My favourite has to be my Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and my mum's Trifle for dessert . . if I can squeeze it in!
***THIS YEAR***
This year at christmas my nephew will be 26months, so no doubt he will be pulling treats and things off of the tree. It will be more fun this year as he can now do most things himself, so everything will be done as its always done every-year and no doubt we'll get extra bits and do extra things for him as well this year.
Summary: Let them know its Christmas time . .
