Advantages: fun, rememberable, better than watching tv
Disadvantages: energetic after a big dinner
My eldest brother moved to New Zealand just over two years ago so the year before we had our last family Christmas we may ever have. I have two brothers who at the time all lived in Cornwall. My parents and I went down to see them for the holiday and have a festive time. My brothers together at the time had five children so we had the fun of watching them over Xmas. In the evening when all the kiddies were in bed we had party games. Now for years before Xmas had been a time of card games but we fancied a little more fun this year than sitting there playing new market. Luckily my brother David knows a few games, of which I’ll share a few, so we were blessed with his expertise. These games cost nothing or very little and can be played with things you find in your house. THE CARDBOARD BOX GAME Now after stuffing your face silly from all foods you don’t need the last thing you want to do is get up and do too much exercise? Wrong. This game requires movement but everyone can do it. You find a cardboard box that you get cereal from or bread sticks. It has to be tall so you can have lots of rounds. You place the box down on the floor in the middle of the room. Each person has to bend over and pick up the box with his or her mouth. No hands are allowed and you feet have to be on the ground. After each person has been you tear a bit off the top of the box and go again. As it gets smaller and small your will find some people cannot pick up the box any more and then they are out. The last person to be in is the winner. My family were very competitive with this and many different pick up methods were done. My brother, David, bobbed up and down like a chicken until he reached it while the rest of us stuck to crouching down. I have to say I won this game so it was one of my favourites THE BAKEBEAN GAME Don’t worry this has nothing to do with eating raw bake beans. Simply you have to cross the room balancing on
cans of bake beans without falling over. We go through a lot of bake bean cans because after our huge roast dinner we were not the lightest of people. It is possible although I didn’t make it THE SCISSOR GAME Now this one is less energetic then the rest. You all sit down in a circle and one person has a pair of scissors. Now you can only play this game once because only person must know how it works. You hold the scissors and each person passes them around following your instructions. If the person’s legs are crossed or together the scissors are passed closed. If the legs are open then they are open. The object of the game is to see who realises how the game works first. Well that’s all folks. I hope this can help spice up your Christmas in between watching the Eastenders specials. Merry Christmas to all Love Sara
