Advantages: Way cool.
Disadvantages: None
(There isn't any Fila Brazilia stuff under the main music genre, so this is here under the only reference to the band.) For about the last 12 months whenever I goto Amazon.com they keep of recommending an album by Fila Brazilia called Maim That Tune. I finally cracked and gave them an order for the cd, and a couple of weeks later it arrived.... It is of course always a concern when you first take a ricky order like this, but fortunantely Amazon had judged this absolutely right, delivering something that is right up my street, and which I would now recommend to anyone and everyone!! The album is a mix of funk soul jazz with a little influence from the dance scene. There are 9 tracks on offer here but almost every one is extremely long (7 to 11 minutes) so you aren't be diddled out of music... Dave Yang & Steve Yin De-Swish T'Swish kicks off the proceedings and straight away sets the scene for whats to be expected from the album. It's relaxed and deliberate in it's method to get going. The track Harmonicas are S*i*e is probably the most well known, although not that much, and it is an absolutely great track. It is the track on the album which has the most dancey kind of edge to it, providing more bass on top of the usual jazz and subtle vocals. The other track that stands out is Extract of Pineal Gland(!!) which is extremely mellow and relaxing to sit back to.. It has a low bass, and winds up from the second it starts. The vocals over the top and smooth and silky, reminscent of a jazz club. If you like albums by The Theivery Corporation or Kruder & Dorfmeister then you'll like this as it is in a similar style. If you want to take a risk on it then I would thoroughly recommend it, as if you get into it, you'll love it!
