What about our 'big white hope' of two opens ago Justin Rose. An Amateur when he had a briliant Open - turned pro, sunk without trace, virtually. He failed to qualify for the Open this year. Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie are hanging around at 3 under, but with that man Tiger Woods leading the pack - the clubhouse lead will be around 10 or 11 under tonight. Oh Well at least there is Lennox Lewis....or wasn't he Canadian once ??? ... more |

Here we go again. British sports fans starved of any kind of serious success this summer - Euro 2000, Wimbledon, Cricket (?), now we have the Open Golf at St Andrews. I was at the Open in St. Andrews and I have to say it was a brillian £30 worth. Seeing all the players in real life is very inspiring to me as a mediocre golfer, and it is a true day out. I heard a lot of complaints about the ticket price on the day, but I think it was fine. The setting in St. Andrews is fantastic, especcially in the unusually good weather of this year. However, the day was marred by the stupid pricks who would not turn off there mobile phones. There you are, standing on the tee with Tiger Woods avout to drive on front of you, and some arsehole's mobile phone goes off, with a ring on it similar to that on 'trigger happy tv'. This ...

I looked forward to the open championship at St.Andrews, on the weeks leading up to the summer holidays. The excitement of Tiger Woods performance, and the battle and ever changing developments in the lead. But I thought the BBC coverage of the golf could have been improved greatly. There were many problems, such as the BBC camera men couldn't half the time, keep track of the ball, and often lost it. But it was the way that the cameramen acting on this that amused me, such as when they had actually lost the ball from view, they attempted to make it look like they did it on purpose. Such as when they did lose the ball, they zoomed the camera out as if they were taking ...
