Gifts For Grandparents in generalNewest Review: ... a special occasion just what they expect to get and have a laugh before they clear the china cabinet of older gifts to put the new such useless bric a brac in. Does the clear out of the china cabinet go into the shed? I will have to check that one out. Have you noticed how clever these old codgers are at pasting the smile on when they open their gifts? Years of practice I think!!!! OK here is a new idea for you:- Collect photos of all the family and do a collage with a nice photo of said Grand parents in the center, it is very easy to do on the computer but if you really want to go up market get a professional photographer to do it ... more |

Choosing a gift for Grandparents can be a pain in the neck. Well you can only buy so many tacky porcelain figurines from the pound shop cant you, and their house is crammed to the hilt with little dwarfs sitting on swings and large gaudy painted spoons for nanny to put her tea bag on?? The Grandma and Granddad mugs are taking over their kitchen cupboards, I must admit I stopped buying them a few years ago when I saw one of Granddads many mugs in his shed with screws in????..Upset me at the time but there again I was very young then. Tins of short bread, boxes of Roses chocolates, Socks for Granddad, Slippers for Nanny, it is all so boring, I bet they ... Read the complete review

This at first may sound a strange idea, but no they actually do the business. Last year unable to think of anything to give my granny, I turned to my sense of humor! Well I search high and low and ended up in Argos. Searching though the magazine I looked at the grey old presents: clocks, walking sticks and glass objects. I then suddenly had thought what would I like if I was there age and it hit me VIBRATING SLIPPERS!! The slippers are one unit with a motor underneath. When pressure is applied onto the bottom of the slipper the motor vibrates and massages the feet. The motor hums away fairly silently so the you can read a book or play scrabble ... If you want to be really really boring and highly unoriginal you could buy them socks, or perhaps a tie. I would suggest that you think a little to make your present unique. As another dooyoo member said photographs and a photo of you and your family would be a good idea. I was thinking more on the lines of something related to their interest (my Grandpa collects OWLS of all things) or perhaps a video of their favourite T.V program- This will be Countdown for most of us. I have two lots of grandparents to buy for and I If like me you have children it makes it a lot easier!,I always try to give them something to treasure such as a framed school photograph, anything with their little grandson or grandaughter they will always love. A good idea if you have a home scanner and printer is to make calenders, get you favourite family photos and with the help of an imaging programme you can make a cheap and personal calender for them that they will love.Or there is always mugs with poems on, little books especially made for them or even necklaces. If you don't have children then I always find things such as writing sets, tinns of ... Read the complete review

I just remembered a great idea to add to this range of optons for your granparents, or parents at that. I know some of the other opinions are saying all they want is love, a little time etc, and that's true but if I didn't actually get my children's granparents anything material-wise they would think that we discarded them, making them feel that no one thought about them. So to avoid the hurt and embaressment, I tell you about this great idea I came apon. Go down to your nearest Lloyd's Chemist and pick up a calendar order form from them. They'll know what you're on about. Then find 12 pictures, one for each month of the year (incase you ... Read the complete review
