Advantages: Nice gift for children to make

Disadvantages: Can be messy

If your children want to make something for their friends at school or even family. Why not make some christmas biscuits and put them in a nice box.

To make about 20 biscuits you will need;
Assorted christmas cutters
2oz icing sugar
3oz soft margarine
yolk from a large egg
vanilla essence
6oz of plain flour
greased baking tray
beaten egg yolk and food dyes to decorate.

Mix the icing sugar and the margarine together until smooth.
Mix the egg yolk in stirring well.Add a few drops of vanilla essence.
Pour in the flour and mix in with a wooden spoon until you get a smooth dough.
Wrap the dough in foodwrap and put it in the freezer whilst you mix the dyes.
Put some egg yolk into some saucers.
Mix in a few drops of dye into each saucer.
Roll out dough.
Cut out your shapes.
Put them onto baking tray.
Use a clean paintbrush and paint your shapes with the dye.
Put them in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes.
When the biscuits are cool, decorate your boxes with ribbons.Put tissue paper inside.
Place the biscuits into your box and stick on a christmas label.
I am sure children will love to make these as my little girl will be taking some for her nursry class!
Have fun!
