Advantages: Quick and easy

Disadvantages: Sticky fingers

You want your children to make some lovely homemade gifts for the family at christmas? But haven’t got to much time on your hands. Then read on, here’s a great pressie what doesn’t take long to make.

Home made truffles

You will need:
Ready made Jamaica/Ginger Cake or similar
Dried Cranberries
Plain Chocolate
Milk Chocolate
Cointreau ( if you require)
Icing sugar for dusting
Petit Flous Baking cases (small baking cases available at supermarkets)

To make these truffles first melt the milk and plain chocolate. Then crumble the cake into the chocolate and add the dried cranberries. Mix all of this together and if you require add a capful of cointreau to give them an extra kick for adults. When you’ve done this, take small quantities of the mixture and roll into a ball then place into petit floss baking cases. When you have used all the mixture dust them over with icing sugar. Simple!
To hand out to relatives I save empty cardboard packets what you get from tomatoes, Kiwi fruits, Mushrooms etc and simply display them on the cardboard tray (you could cover this with silver foil or wrapping paper) and then put food wrap (cling film) over the top.

Don’t forget to make the traditional christmas crackers this year. Start saving your loo rolls now!!! This year we have wrapped the toilet roll in coloured crepe paper tied on end with tinsel, put a christmas bow on the front, fill it with Celebrations, tie the other end with tinsel and add a homemade gift tag to one end. The gift-tags were made simply by folding a small piece of card in half and cutting off the corners, add a piece of cotton and yes very impressive.
