Advantages: Easy, Pay as much as you can afford

Disadvantages: none really

We love christmas don't we?? The music (same old every year), the rubbish movies on tv, the food, the presents. The In-Laws forced on you for christmas dinner, the leftover turkey. The broken presents after a day, the kids choking on peanuts, crakers that don't bang, jokes that are sometimes so bad you can't even read them out. Yep, christmas time is the time of year we all look forward too, right??

We love spending hundreds of pounds on food and presents! Well, it doesn't bother me because i learn't a long time ago to budget for christamas.

I don't collect food all year round, and i don't put money away either. I buy saving stamps.

Most Supermarkets offer these stamps, and they are a godsend. Some supermarkets offer a special deal, for example Asda will give you free money, if you save £24, the £25 stamp will be free, and you can get upto £5 free, on a saving card of £100, depending on how much you save. Tesco offer a £50 savings card, with the £50 free if you save up to £49. Freezer food specialists offer £25 books, with the £25 stamp free, when £24 has been saved.

These stamps are usually redemable during the months of september to december, and you are entitled to cash back, for example, if you spend £4, and you have saved £100, they will give you £96 free. However, Tesco will only give you the free stamp if you reddem the card in december. Farmfoods have no 'use by' date. Sainsbury's offer saving stamps, but no offers, just the stamps, although this card is also redeemable all year long.

I find this an excellent way to save for christamas food and presents, and i still have the space in my cupboards, and i don't get tempted to 'borrow' from the christmas cupboard.

Stamps are usually available from machines instore, and usually cost £1 each, although i am aware co-op offer 50p stamps, a good way to save.

These stamp books also make
great presents for people, and because you save the stamps how and when you have the money, around christmas time, you not only can afford all those luxuries, but you also have that extra cash to spend on pressies!

So what u waiting for - get saving!!

If you can keep them up and manage not to lose the card, they are a great way of spreading the cost. It's getting moptivated to start early in the year that's the hard bit.
