Lands End has the splendid reputation of being the most westerly point of Britain (not the most southerly, that belongs to the Lizard Peninsula). Lands End used to be literally just a small hotel and the magnificent views over the cliffs, oh and the signpost detailing the direction and distance to various international landmarks. We have visited Lands End once and I am sure that will be our one and only visit to this place. We expected to find a place of natural beauty where we could enjoy the views from the cliffs and the sensation of being at the edge of our country. What we found was amusement arcades, tacky shops and expensive cafes. Any natural beauty of this site is distracted by the greed of the businesses situated here. You even have to pay £3 to park your car on a grass field. We have all come to expect this type of format at the more popular seaside resorts and there we can all enjoy the noise of slot machines and the smell of hot dogs, but Lands End surely is something ...
