Lands EndNewest Review: ... it should be and has an air of excitement. There's a cafe, doctor who exhibition and a Lands End clothing shop, and a trawler on the cliff and a small playground for the kids within 100 yards. When we visited the shops were closed, but the exhibitions they have can be seen as a while saving about a third. I'm not giving away the price, as when we went it was October like I said, so with ... more |

My partner (Sue) had never been to Cornwall, so last October I thought I'd go one better - I took her to the furthest westerly point in mainland britain - Lands End. The map calls the area Sedden, but I don't think it matters what it is. It's the edge of country and that's all that really matters. The most famous point is the wooden mile post showing the vast distance to New York, but there's a very old fashioned farm with pens on the inner edge of the cliff face, and a foot path that allows you to walk right to the edge - although we walked to the top of the path we didn't go to the very edge, but did walk along some very steep, rugged footpaths. The area ... Read the complete review

I am so surpised to see any positive reviews for Lands End on here! As a native Cornish person, it is so sad to see what the people who own this place have turned it into. Being one of the country's top natural attractions, you would imagine that you'd get a high quality place to visit. Of course there has to be some income but you imagine they'd do this in a quality way instead of the crass tatty restaurant/cafe and awful, truly awful, gift shops they have there now. The food in that cafe is amongst the worst I have ever had and they don't cater for babies very well, either, with tatty old highchairs and no space to put them in. The one saving grace is ... Land's End (Cornish name: Penn an Wlas) is a headland on the Penwith peninsula, located near Penzance in Cornwall. It is the most westerly tip of the southern mainland. And Lands End is such a treat for all the family.I have only visited once and I would love to go there again. There is so much to do and plenty of attractions. It is lovely in the summer, but obviously very cold in the winter. The only downfall being, there is not much in the way of food and drink there. It would be nice if more was added. The walks are lovely as everywhere you look, there is some sort of attraction to look at,as it is all so close together. You can meet all the animals at the 200 ... Most people will have heard of 'lands end' because of the famous 'lands end to john o groats walks'. Lands end is the headland of the Penwith Peninsula and is the most westerly tip of the southern mainland. It is situated approximately 9 miles west of Penzance and is surrounded by some spectacular views of the atlantic ocean. Its vey popular and today is one of the most visited outdoor attractions in Cornwall; I've visited every time I've been to Cornwall. As already mentioned the main reason that most people visit lands end is because of the surrounding views and the fact that you are at the most westerly point of the southern mainland. The signpost at lands ... Read the complete review
