Advantages: Mobiles convenient

Disadvantages: Uncertainty over side effects

I've had a mobile phone now for about 3 years. For the first year I never used it to talk that much, mainly for text messages. A couple of years ago I met my girlfriend Judith. We have a long distance relationship and don't see each other as often as we'd like. With all the free minute deals advertised for mobiles I thought it'd be a good way of keeping phone bills down, as we often used to chat for long periods on the phones.
I ended up getting a contract mobile that gave 50 free off peak minutes every day.
50 minutes every day is quite a fair bit of radiation to be exposed to. Or is it?

I have to say I do suffer headaches from time to time, but I think that's more related to sitting in front of a vdu all day at work.

There's often conflicting stories in the news about the dangers of mobiles. One minute they harm you, next minute they don't. One minute they are better with a hands free kit, next minute worse.

This all seems a little worrying. So called experts can't work out whether it's bad for us or not.

If the levels of radiation are low, it'd explain why it's hard to determine whether these are safe levels.

With the popularity of mobiles now though, we could all be in for a shock in years to come.
It might take ten to twenty years before we'd develop problems but if problems do develop, and it is related to mobiles, there is going to be somewhat of an epidemic of conditions caused by radiation.

I'm not trying to scare anyone, personally I believe that they are safe. I'm just a bit of a pesimist and wonder what the future holds for us all if they aren't safe, and we discover this a little too late.
