So, as another World Cup passes before my eyes, I find myself with the inevitable task of getting back to normality – no more drinking cans of Guinness with my bacon and eggs at 7.00 in the morning whilst covered in Union Jack Merchandise. And what a world cup it turned out to be – from the very first game where the Frogs were beaten comprehensively by the practically unknown Senegal, to the unforgettable beating of the Arsey Argies. Although Turkey surprised all of us, including me, in the World Cup, as far as I am concerned they deserved something better than the third place. It is amazing how Turkish football has advanced in last 10-15 especially over the few years. As a Turk, I did not expect more than a quarter final from my team. The other people did not expect Turkey to advance to any further than the second round. However, Turkey amazed all of us (at least me) with their fast and dynamic football. What I believe is that If Turkey did not play against Brazil, They could meet with them in the final, as Turkey was the second best team in the world cup. As far as I am concerned, Turkey ... While looking around Dooyoo I came across this section. A diary of the World Cup sounded like such a good idea but how to actually write something. I thought about it for a while and decided that the best way would be to make a few notes as the competition progressed and write the whole thing up as soon as my country was eliminated. This sounded like the way to go and the results are what you are about to read. I have tried to keep away from detailed football analysis and stuck to the feelings and atmosphere that surrounded the competition. Vieri scored twice while Totti deliciated with high quality skill. In the second half, nothing happened, Italy simply defended the result, Ecuador was unable to be dangerous.
