Advantages: EVERYTHING EVERYTHING EVERYTHING

Disadvantages: IT DOESN'T LAST LONG ENOUGH

The best time of the year! I love the whole idea of Christmas. It wasn't always like this. I lost my mother 18 years ago and it wasn't the same for many years that followed. Now I have a family of my own and as my children are growing up I can see the way I was when I was their age, well my daughter anyway.

My daughter is 6 years old now and my son will be 18 moonths old on Christmas day. Last christmas he didn't know what was happening but this year I think it will be a bit different as he is into everything. My daughter helped him last year, but he really didn't have a clue he was more interested in sleeping really.

This year I can't wait! I can't wait to see his face when he meets the Christmas tree, with all the decorations on and the lights. I have musical lights that I put on the bannister of the stairs as they are a fixture of my living room. My daughter ia always stunned when she comes down and everything is on the lights etc.

This year I will be putting the decorations and tree up when the children are in bed, I want to see their faces in the morning.

We all know when Christmas is near, it is when you go out into the early morning light and get that first smell of crisp sweet Christmas air. I always say you can smell Christmas and I love it. (It only worries me when it is in the middle of July Ha Ha LOL).

Shopping is fun but I always leave town wondering if I have got everything, mind you I do that most days anyway so why should Christmas be any different. The lights in the town centres the music and the carol singers it all adds to the special feeling Christmas brings.

Christmas eve I always spend in the house I clean the house, make sure there is no washing or ironing and generally prepare everything. I finally sit down late at night toatally shattered but so excited I don't want to sleep.

The big day! Christmas morning, I go into the childrens r
ooms and show them their stockings and then we all open them in my bedroom along with daddy. I go down stairs put the kettle on and put Santas note by the empty sherry and eaten Mince Pie, not forgetting the carrot for Rudolph. The Camcorder is turned on and the lights on the tree and the stairs and music is played as the children come down and see what Santa has left them. There are no words to explain the look on their faces I couldn't even try. The day goes on until the present are opened and the visitors come and go.

The cooking of the wonderful Christmas feast goes as expected, lots of food not so much room to eat it all, but it happens every year always loads of food on the table Christmas day isn't there. Eventually it is back to the toys and games wearing the paper kings crown from the cracker and it all starts again. Finally my children can't take any more and they crash, normally with their toys still in their hands, but it has been a PERFECT DAY.

Jesus Christ was born on this day and it is my 6 year old daughter who reminds us and has done ever since she was explained it. The true magic of Christmas is what you make it, make it the best you can and it will be. There will always be special memories and the true real beauty is being able to hold on to them and let nobody take them away. HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AND ENJOY EVERY MOMENT I KNOW MY FAMILY AND I WILL.

We love the build up too, we try to hype the kids up as much as possible,it starts on 1st December with all the normal mugs/cups/beakers/coaster s/placemats being replaced with the christmas ones, even christmas bubble bath! It really is a magical time.My mum and dad used to make it special for us all when we were little and it has rubbed off on us.I just dread the kids getting older as they really are a big part of the magic. When my oldest son first found out that santa did'nt come down the chimney I cried my eyes out, though he keeps the belief alive with the younger members of our family.Christmas came alive again for my inlaws when our children came along. We go over the top but that is part of christmas too.Have a great one.
