Nine years ago my mum passed away near Christmas, I thought at the time I would never enjoy christmas again, it was her favorite time of the year.I still remember the magical christmas' she gave us every year. I couldn't possibly enjoy myself, I felt far too guilty.

I still don't know quite how I got through that first one without her, but I knew I had to for my sons sake, who was only 3 at the time. I somehow got through the day with a smile through gritted teeth and having a cry
in the loo. My husband came home from work on Boxing day and I had took every single decoration down, tree, the lot, as far as I was concerned I had done my bit and it was over.

I lost more than my mum that year. At her funeral, near to christmas, one of my brothers lost it completly, he told us all we had not only lost a mother but lost a brother. He literally 'did one', he disappeared, moved with his own family, without a trace, I spent years worried about him, hearing just rumours as to his whereabouts. I found out that he was alive about two years ago, but still figured he didn't want any contact, so left it at that.
I had since lost my Dad and another brother so I had enough on my plate without risking rejection from him on top of everything.

You are probably thinking,'What has all that sad stuff got to do with her perfect christmas'?. Trust me, I am getting to the point. Read on.

Regarding Christmas without Mum ~

I remembered those magical christmas', and the next year I changed my train of thought. I thought how sad my mum would be if she thought I was denying my children a happy christmas, and that I should celebrate christmas in her honour. I have done that ever since.

My long lost brother~

A couple of days before christmas I was checking my email, as you do, when I noticed I had a contact from Friends Reunited, for those of you who don't know what that is,it's a
site where you can find your old school and friends, they have 1000's listed, and if you are a member, it costs £5 per year, you can contact your old mates via the site, your email adddess is shown when they read it, giving them the option to reply if they wish. It has a whole list of benefits and purposes, but this is not an opinion on the site so enough said about it for now. I will say though I have some real laughs with mates I have not seen for 27 years, most of which I natter to on MSN Messenger each week.

Anyway, back to THE email. IT WAS FROM MY LONG, LOST BROTHER. I had to read it five times to believe it.
Without going into all the in's and out's of why he did a disappearing act, I don't know myself yet, He has been living abroad, Tenerife for the past six years. He felt he could now face us and approched me via Friends reunited. I didnt even ask for why's, I just let him know that I have missed him and want to keep in touch.We have so far exchanged half a dozen emails and sent photograph's via the wonders of the web.He is happy and well,I have got my brother back. Slow and a little strange,( the situation, not my brother!) but it certainly helped make 'My Perfect Christmas'

So there you go, never give up hope, don't look back, forgive and forget, if that's too hard, just try the forget part.You never know what's around the corner, good or bad, so make the most of it. Life is too short.
Life is not a rehersal, this is it folks, make the most of it.

~~~~~~A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR~~~~~~~~
