Advantages: Everyone should have these.
Disadvantages: None
1. A bathroom can be useful. It should be safe and clean as the kids are going to use it. A bathroom costs £600. 2. Life is so much better with a pig. It changes a person's life. The piglets can be sold for profit and the manure is good for the land. A piglet costs only £30. 3. I don't like drinking water from a river that's used as a toilet. When there's a lot of typhoid around, it's time to drill a well. A well provides safe water. Great value at a mere £4,800. 4. Growing your own food can be an alternative to Sainsburys. How about seeds and tools and training as a Christmas pressy? Cost £19. 5. The crops need water. Some kind of simple irrigation system is the answer. Cost £108. 6. School uniform, paper, pencils, rubber, pens, and a ruler can all be pricey. But they can be had for £17. Cheap? 7. A maternity ward can make a nice present, especially when combined with a pharmacy and a treatment room and lots of equipment. At £58,800 this seems jolly good value. 8. Business training can lead to the setting up of a successful business. Cost £82. 9. How much do you reckon is the cost of a Christmas stocking containing soap, shampoo, razors, hairbrushes, toothbrushes, toys, books and pencils? £30. 10. Finally, how about accommodation in Burma? Nice and hot there all year round and lots of exotic pagodas and palm trees. Cost £500. You can order these online (yes, you really can buy a real piglet) at: www.worldvision.org.uk If you look at the catalogue, the pretty little piglets are on page 5.
