I still play the lottery every now and then but truly, deep down inside, I know lightening doesn't strike twice sadly. Still it doesn't stop me having the odd flutter, just in case. Just a few weeks after the lottery started in the 90s I won £1500 or so with 5 numbers. I remember thinking I'd got the actual jackpot when I checked them back on teletext. The feeling was incredible and my new life style as a millionaire was flashing before my eyes before I'd even got on the phone to Camelot. As luck would have it, I only went and changed one of my numbers just 2 weeks before from 21 to 22 (my then boyfriend had a birthday and so changed his age and one of my numbers was based on his age). I say as luck would have it as the missing number which would have given me 6 numbers to share the jackpot with the other lucky winners, was none other than 21! I also say as luck would have it because I truly am so glad I only got 5 numbers. If I had won the jackpot, there is no way my life would have taken the path it has now. I might have stayed with said abusive boyfriend - or met somebody even more violent. Fortunately, I met my wonderful husband and we have two beautiful children (one saly no longer with us). It just goes to show, money really can't buy you happiness.

Summary: Always worth a flutter but don't wait to win to be happy
