For weeks now, Dooyoo has been flooded with opinions on all aspects of Christmas, and created a lively festive atmosphere, but one element of the season was sadly lacking; New Year. You see, I am Scottish, and New Year is a very important part of our culture, so a quick word with the lovely Simone and Hey Presto. Now I know many think the Scots are dour b*ggers and too miserable to give presents, hence our favour of New Year, when we can all get drunk, but there is a wee fact many don't realise. Christmas was not actually officially recognised in Scotland till 1958, and was not a public holiday here. The crazy thing is, this was not because we were heathens ... Read the complete review

New Year’s Eve is fast approaching and for me it is a time of mixed emotions. Everyone I know has their own New Year’s Eve party and where I live we all do the rounds First Footing, going from one party to another but not stopping at any one house for any length of time. When I was a child I longed to be old enough to celebrate New Year like the grown ups – going from one house to another wishing family, friends and neighbours ‘all the best’ and having a drink. Children are traditionally allowed to stay up and see in the New Year in my neck of the woods, a party table is set for them, music is played and £1 is offered to the first ... Wish you were here.. No really! Well, maybe not! Seeing as this is the *only* catagory I can find with "New Years" in it.. here goes my latest op.... My wonderful husband has decided to cook me a five course dinner for New Years. As I write this op, we are resting temporarily, inbetween our third and fourth course. You must ask yourselves (If you are ladies, and married.. My god! Why doesn't my husband do this?) (Of course if your a lady and NOT married: Where can *I* find a guy to do this?) (And if you're a married man: Why the heck did he do that? Now my Wife's gonna expect that!) (Or single man: Huh? Too much thinking.. gonna go ... Read the complete review

I am sure most of us woke up this morning with abit of a sore head. Every year I like many people vow to change but it’s always the same. Personally, I don’t think anything really changes when the clock strikes 12 but it’s a good way of rounding of the festive period. Put it one way it’s a good way to have a party. New Year’s Party are really good and despite the few punch ups that always happen things go pretty well. You see friends and family and more importantly you see in the new year with loved ones. This year we went round to friends, there must have been 50 people at 10pm but by the time it came to 12 there was hardly any ... Read the complete review

Well here is 2002 and I certainly started it with a bang. I had no plans whatsoever except to get severly intoxicated so I was happy when Popeye asked me to go up to Cleveland with him and an old dear friend of ours named Amylee. It sounds weird, and I have never heard of this, but our first stop was some wedding reception at a bar. That's just plain goofy as far as I am concerned but it was actually pretty cool and they had good food. That no good popeye was eating cabbage rolls after we specifically asked him not to. They had fried chicken and pasta and cheese and good desserts that Amylee made. It was nice. Except they only had kamachatka vodka for the ... Read the complete review
