Disadvantages: A bit lonely

Wish you were here.. No really! Well, maybe not!

Seeing as this is the *only* catagory I can find with "New Years" in it.. here goes my latest op....

My wonderful husband has decided to cook me a five course dinner for New Years. As I write this op, we are resting temporarily, inbetween our third and fourth course. You must ask yourselves (If you are ladies, and married.. My god! Why doesn't my husband do this?) (Of course if your a lady and NOT married: Where can *I* find a guy to do this?) (And if you're a married man: Why the heck did he do that? Now my Wife's gonna expect that!) (Or single man: Huh? Too much thinking.. gonna go drinkin!)

So what exactly IS the menue you are asking?

First course... Started at 8pm UK time promptly: My husband had 2 cocktail bilinis topped with a thin smear of sour cream and generously topped with Avruga Caviar. I however, opted for something MUCH more fattening.. Succulent white crab meat, dipped in melted butter. We also opted for some lovely Taste the Difference bread for Sainsburies. Wine of choice? Vouvery of course!

Second course: A fish course, following suit to tradition. Grilled Mackrel (oiled gently with olive oil and seasoned with pepper, parsley and salt!) and a lovely tossed salad, again from Sainsburies, with, you guess it! More vouvery and bread!

Next course is the "main" course, which I anticipate with my mouth already watering...

Fillet steak, maitre d'hotel butter with herbs, Asparagus tips, mini boiled potatoes, and wild mushrooms. St. Emillion wine which has been breathing now for around 5 hours.

Fourth course is a light lemon sorbet, to clear our palate of the deep flavourings of the steak and wine.

The fifth and final course is a lovely cheese platter, containing a Cornish Blue cheese, Caws Mona (Welsh) cheese, Green Thunder (Welsh cheese with lovely garlic bits!) cheese and a Cornish Farmhouse
cheese to round it off with. I shall be having water by this time, as I cannot hold my alchie very well, while my hubby polishes off the St. Emillion.

For atmosphere: Capitol Gold radio is on, counting down the oldies, four candles are lit, two of which are juniper fragranced. And I am wearing my favorite Elizabeth Arden perfume: Green Tea.

I must say I am lucky... I get to rest, play on the computer, write my op and then get to go eat. My poor husband is doing ALL the cooking, and I don't feel one bit guilty!

At midnight we plan to go around to neighbors and wish them the happiest of the year, fall asleep (slightly drunk) and wake up tomorrow with a hangover, play some Magic the Gathering, and then just "cool out" in 2002!

To all reading this,
