Advantages: Non Toxic & Completely safe

Disadvantages: You have to look at dead flies

Can we ever really get rid of them?
I don`t like the idea of Fly Sprays...if they kill the flies, they can`t be too good for us, they even warn us on the can ` do not inhale` & `don`t spray near food` which is hard when they always seem to appear when doing the dinner.

I have tried a Tomato Plant in the kitchen...helps a little
I`ve tried a Basil Plant too...helps a little
Citronella candle..they won`t fly near it, but they are still in the kitchen.

Now I use old fashioned Fly Papers...yes they look ugly!
but they are non toxic & don`t harm us, or the air we breathe in any way.
They are safe to have in the kitchen where food is prepared.
And, they do work, if used as instructions.

If you have not seen or heard of fly papers: they are made of long strip of of sellophane 2" wide, which is coated with a sweet sticky substance & rolled up. To use, you pull out the strip from the middle which uncoils & hangs from the ceiling, attracting flies so that they land on it & can`t get off.

They do work attracting the flies, which get stuck on the paper & eventually die.
I can`t look at it though, all them dead flies stuck to it look horrible.

You are supposed to hang them in the middle of the room, & if I did they would probably keep the room fly free, but as they look so gross, I have them in a corner where visitors can`t see it...so it`s my own fault I still have some flies.

I would recommend them, as they are so cheap about £1 for 6 & they can last for as long as there is space for more flies, which can be a couple of weeks...if you don`t mind looking at the dead ones that long.
