Advantages: Easy to use, Backed by Dooyoo, Earn money for completing surveys
Disadvantages: Dreary site, not many surveys (Yet)
Euro panel is a site that has been put together as a joint project between our beloved Dooyoo and a company called SKOPOS a marketing and social research company based in Germany.
I received an email from Dooyoo back in January giving details of this new site so I went along to the website to check it out.
To be honest the web site looks very boring, not like our wonderful Dooyoo site, the colours are very dreary and there is not much to look at, but all the information I required was there.
First of all I checked the page called Regulations. This informed me that euro-panel membership is open to anyone over the age of 14 who lives in Germany, UK and Northern Ireland, France, Spain or Italy as long as they have access to the Internet
Then I checked out the Data Protection bit to find out what they were going to do with my data. I was reassured to find that all my personal details are only to be used by euro-panel they are not linked with my survey answers and are not passed on to any third parties. This is a German web site and they have to abide by the German Data Protection legislation so I was convinced my data would be safe.
So I checked the next most important thing, how much and how often. So I went to the section entitled Compensatory Payments. This section explained that 1 bonus point is 0.50 Euros, they pay out when you have 80 points (40 Euros), and this is then converted into pound sterling at the exchange rate of the day and paid into your bank account. It says they will ask for your bank account details when you first hit 80 points and will then keep it on file so they can automatically process future payments. It also says that all newcomers will be entered into a monthly prize draw, but it doesn’t say what the prize is. There are also some details about the surveys themselves, it says you will be given the opportunity to complete a survey on a regular basis, but never more that once a week, It
also says that some surveys only require a certain number of responses so you may click on a link for a survey and find that there have been enough people completed the survey already.
I also checked out the FAQ’s with answers to any other questions that still niggled me, such as what happens if I don’t reply to a request for a survey, will I be deleted. In case you are interested the answer is no, but if you don’t respond on a number of occasions they will email you to ask if you wish to remain a member.
So armed with all this information and the fact that it was backed by Dooyoo I decided to register.
I signed up with euro panel on 3rd February, the process was extremely quick and easy with very basic information being provided; I received my first 2 points for registering.
On 5th February I received an email saying I had been accepted and asking me to return to the site to complete my registration by undertaking a short survey to provide some more details about me, the reason for this 2 part registration is so they can set up your account with your address details in part one, and then get your personal details in part 2 without asking for your address etc so the details remain secure. This survey is a little more in depth wanting to know about you, your family, your job etc, but again it was not too difficult and took no more than 10 minutes to complete. I got another 3 points for completing this survey so I had a total of 5 points.
So I just sat back and waited for my first survey, and I waited and waited and waited…. I have had to amend the rest of this opinion, I was all set to give this site a roasting as I thought it was another one of those ‘lets get you registered but give you nothing’ sites.
And then on 5th March I received an email asking me to take part in a survey, so off I went. When I logged into the euro-panel site it said there was a questionnaire wai
ting for me, it gave me the subject and told me it would take about 15 minutes to complete and I would earn 8 points.
So I clicked on the questionnaire and answered all the questions, it was really quick and easy all the questions were multiple choice it was just a case of clicking little buttons and off it went, it probably only took me just over 5 minutes and sure enough when I went back to my account page I was now up to 13 points.
In summary:
It is still very early days, the number of surveys is obviously low at the moment, I am hoping this is because they are a new company starting up, I assume that the more members they have the more likely they are to get work, so go on SIGN UP you have nothing to lose. I am a bit concerned about the Euros to sterling business, I could not find anything in the small print about a conversion charge, but we will have to wait and see. The registration and surveys are very easy to complete and only take a few minutes. Obviously I have not been paid anything yet so I cant comment on that, but I will update this opinion as I earn more points and when I get paid so you can follow my progress here.
UPDATES.
7th March, another survey came in today, again very quick and easy and another 5 points added to my account, now up to 18 points.
1st April, A bigger survey came in today, a masive 15 points for completing a survey that would take about 20 minutes. This survey was a lot more in depth than previous ones I have completed and it did take a long time, unfortunately after completing about 90% of the survey my ISP decided to log me out and I could not get back into my survey to complete it so I guess I won't see those points.
6th April, another quick survey today, only worth 2 points, just a few multiple choice questions again. Points balance now 20.
We are now in May, I have not had any surveys for over a month, I have a grand total of 20 points and I hav
e been a member for over 4 months, I am quite disapointed and am changing my opinion to not recommend this site to other people, they are obviously not that interested in our opinions after all. If they number of surverys should improve then I will amend this opinion again.
